|  | Cheap Car Rental Under 25?

Looking at renting a car to get us from Seattle to The Gorge. I know a lot of companies let you rent if you're under 25, but then the price goes way up.
Just wondering if anybody had any tips, price, or can speak from experience. That'd be cool.

Honestly though, I cant remember who I rented from last year (I was 22 at the time). It was either Hertz or Enterprise....I honestly want to say it was Enterprise. I was just under $500 for basically a week, unlimited mileage, with a nice full-size 4door sedan. Split that 4 ways and considering that little fucker got 32mpg, it was not bad at all.

Usually it's $25-$40 extra per day for under-25 charges. You'll only get better if you know someone, I think.

Yeah, when I was younger I rented from Enterprise quite frequently. I don't remember the premium being that high, at least not in Canada. I want to say like $8 / day or so.

Yeah good call on Enterprise, there underage fees are by far the cheapest. Plus I don't have a credit card and live out of state and they were willing to work with me so I could still rent with a debit card.

I just called up Hertz, they've got a whole under-25 waiver thing. So including insurance, my car for 5 days came up to about $340? Seems like a pretty sweet deal.

A friend of mine once rented a car when she was 22 and it turned into a horror story. She rented it to go up to an isolated resort hotel in the Colorado Rockies with her boyfriend (who was a serious alcoholic at the time). They brought up her 6 year old nephew with them for some reason too. Anyway, they were going to the Hotel in the off season to act as temporary caretakers while it was empty. I don't want to get into the details too much, but the boyfriend went nuts and tried to kill them!

Hey drimaster, unless you are carpooling with at least 3 people, it would be cheaper for you to take the shuttle from Sea-Tac to the Gorge. It's $90 round trip.

Having a car really comes in handy for locking up your shit though. That, and you can arrive and leave as you please with a car, rather than following the bus schedule.
But deadpunk is right, the bus would be cheaper, just some stuff to consider.

Holy crap. I rent cars frequently when I travel, and that seems pricey. Mind you, I'm usually able to decline insurance, but I seldom spend more than $150 for 5 days, including all of the bullshit fees they add for "airport location" etc.
