 How was your drive?
« Thread Started on Jun 5, 2011, 10:58pm »

Well mine was fine on the way there, my car used less gas than I thought it would. Then as I start my car up to drive back home on Tuesday, my brake light came on, with the incredibly annoying dinging noise. Turns out I just needed fluid but and I was low on coolant. My bad for not checking all my shit before heading out in the first place. Cost me an extra $35. Then halfway home I ran into the worst thunderstorm I've ever been in, and almost had to pull over because it was raining so hard. The storm lasted for around an hour. Anyways the trip took us two hours longer than it should have.

SO.... How was your drive? Good weather? Any car problems? Did you pick up any hitch hikers? Care to share?

Trip down was just fine.

On the way back got stuck in line at the border for over 2 hours. That wasn't too bad though because we met some rad people in front of us and had a 1 mile mobile dance party. Got some wicked rain about an hour away from home.

Drive there was good and the fastest I have ever made it. Would of been about 20 minutes faster if I didn't have to slow down every 10 minutes to let the one of the 2 cars following catch up. Drive back was worst! Tired as shit, everyone in my car was passed out and it was raining so fucking hard. I really don't think I could of made that drive without bassnectar blaring the whole time.

Drive down, stayed up all night the night before (got off at 11pm and had to catch a ferry* at 5am) drive went well except that I missed an exit then got caught in Everett during rush hour, found our way out and made good time the rest of the way, got to the gorge and we were in the initial mass and were in the first row of general camping during staging around 4:30pm Thursday..

Drive back, no incidents, made great time, got to do some shopping, drove onto our ferry, and were home by 4pm Tuesday...

The drive there was awesome. Met up with the rest of the group in Ellensburg and then rallied from there to the campground. Ended up driving through the exit of the campground and around security so we never got checked or shown where to park or anything. So we then just set up camp as wide as possible along the fence line and we ended up having the coolest neighbors ever from the land of Canada.

The drive back was miserable. I was starting to feel the aids that I contracted at sasquatch and I was in full-on sick mode. Two of the people in our group were still rolling on monday night so that made for an interesting car ride back to ellensburg. Slept overnight in ellensburg at the cwu dorms (got the hookups) and we are all able to even take warm showers for once. It was nice indeed. We then parted our ways and we drove to Bellingham with no traffic problems whatsoever and then it was sleepy time for the next 36 hours. Boner Jamz 2011 definitely kept the car awake throughout the whole Sasquatch mission.

The drive up we ended up packing shit out for like four more people than we had planned on. With all the shit we had to pile in the view out the rear window was entirely obscured. The two girls sitting in the back seat had to ride with their knees tucked up to their chest. I ended up having to drive because that was the only place in the car there would have been room for me because I was the tallest. Which was awesome, considering one of the girls in the car was taking like $2000 worth of chemicals up to the Gorge. It was the most terrifying five hours of my life.

The drive back started out with a 45-minute detour to Ephrata to pick up this kid who got himself arrested during the riot at the gates on Sunday morning. I didn't mind doing a good deed for the kid until he ate four double-dose weed cookies before we were fifty yards from the courthouse, which meant I had to keep pulling over so he could alternately vomit and freak the fuck out.

My goal for Sasquatch next year is to not commingle all of my travel and camping plans with a bunch of people who are six to nine years younger than myself.

Drive down was good, the two teenage girls we gave rides slept most of the way there, so my brother and I just caught up with each other. We switched passangers in the 2 cars we had a few times so no one got sick of anyone (as can happen on 8 hour drives). Traffic was way better than previous years, probably because it was thursday and not friday where all the people run to cabins and whatnot for the weekend. We got seperated from our other car for a bit but we all met up to shop for groceries in renton so it worked out.

On the drive back we gave one of our neighbours a ride back to bellingham since her group was leaving monday afternoon and she wanted to see the Decemberists and Major Lazer. We stopped at a resturant near ellensburg and ate some awesome food. We either have the best luck picking resturants after Sasquatch or we are just so starved for something not cooked on a coleman stove that it all tastes amazing. Me and my brother alternated driving duties and I drifted lanes unintentionally once but other than that no incidents.

Nothing I would really change about the travel this year, it all went pretty smoothly.

Saw this sign near a McDonald's on the way home. It made me forget for a split second that I was getting car sick while driving.

I need to learn how to make those, and then move to the forest and live off them.

They were for sure the best edibles I have had. It was also nice to help out a good cause. I think I might have one more floating around my car somewhere, should probably clean it out and unpack all of my things.

I really need to make some THC Lollipops again- I gave them away at Shambhala 1 year and they were a total hit.

We have thought about making the lollipops. Don't you need Everclear? Or can you get around that?
