| | BEST ROUTE FROM CALGARY TO SASQUATCH « Thread Started on Apr 25, 2011, 10:03am » | |
Hey,
Me and some friends will be making the trip from Calgary for our first Sasquatch festival this year. Can anyone suggest the best and fastest route to take to the festival? Any tips or advice on where to cross the boarder and where to stop to stock up for supplies along the way(in the US preferably)? Much appreciated!
Thanks!

I'm headed down from Calgary and we are headed through the Cranbrook boarder crossing. Its the biggest one around the area and it's never been a hassle going through.
We then are passing through Coeur'd'alane and Spokane, so probably stop at a wal-mart or something in one of those cities to pick up supplies.

I have to work Thursday, so I'm planning on heading out Thursday night and spending the night in Cranbrook. Landing in the Gorge Friday around noonish hopefully.

You ever heard of anyone doing in in one shot? Google says it takes around 11 hours? You Dr. Garbanzoure it will take longer or shorter? Thanks for your help!

If there's more than one of you driving, its definitely do-able. Depending on how long you're stuck at the border for I would say its pretty easy to get there in under 10 hours.
I've driven to Spokane in one shot before and that took just under 7 hours and the Gorge is about 2 hours past Spokane. We flew through that border though, I would give yourself some more time with all the people heading down for Sasquatch.

took 14hrs almost exactly from Edmonton. Although that included breaking trail in a blizzard on Highway 22 where we could only do 60km/hr for about an hour, a stop in Spokane for supplies, and another 20min or so talking to the cops.
Took the Cranbrook route. We were the only ones at the border at 4am. 2 people switching off driving duties.

^^^ what they all said. Calgary -> Cranbrook -> Cour D'Alene -> Spokane. IMO Spokane is a good place to stock up on supplies.
I'm splitting the drive in half (driving by myself since I'm going a week early). Calgary -> Sandpoint Friday eve, Sandpoint -> Seattle Sat morning. That's a pretty easy pace.
Planning on doing the drive home in one shot from the gorge, might need to stop somewhere for a nap on the way though.

nap at the border. you'll basically be sitting there stationary for an hour anyway

That blizzard last year sucked!!!! We hit the aftermath at about 5:30am just outside of Black Diamond.
The two times that I've driven from Calgary, we crossed the border at Yahk. Never had to wait more than 5 minutes crossing to the U.S. or back into Canada. Total trip was about 10 hours including a pit stop in Spokane for lunch and supplies.

we hit the giant rush of Canadians crossing the border after the festival. It was pretty brutal. Had to chuckle at the kid wearing a "The Chronic" t-shirt sitting on the curb while border patrol ripped through his car.
