It was Lisa singing Anthems. I've seen Amy sing it as well. I wouldn't doubt Emily occasionally joins them to sing it, since Broken Social Scene regularly grabs anyone who happens to be in town to guest.
Agreed, great setlist. I'd like to see It's All Gonna Break again, but it has everything else. Ibi would be a fun closer instead. |

I saw a youtube video of Emily joining them for that song in NYC from May of this year, but I don't think she'd be joining them for the Seattle show, seeing as Metric is in Nashville 2 days prior...

Just bought tickets for Gorillaz and N.E.R.D. in the Key Arena Nov 2nd and am getting pumped I need a vacation. Has anyone seen what the Gorillaz show looks like post Plastic Beach?

Wow, the Arcade Fire show was good, but.... that good? In about a 2 week span I saw AF, Primus, Caribou and Broken Social Scene (I assume others might have enjoyed the same circuit)
Arcade Fire were an easy last for me in that company, Primus and Caribou were some next level shit and BSS were incredible as always.
Am I the only one who enjoyed AF, but wouldn't say it was all that impressive in terms of a live performance (I mean they hit every note and were realy tight). But compared to BSS (who some say have more than a few similarities), AF just seem flat. Anyone else. Also who saw Primus and Caribou (and Emeralds!). YESSSSSS.

Bands have off nights, and so do fans. Maybe you weren't feeling it that night, or had impossible expectations, or were too far away? I've disliked shows I should enjoy the hell out of, but the Hawthorne Theatre is usually to blame.
I've seen all four this year. My top five shows of 2010 are probably the three Sasquatch headliners, Arcade Fire, and Primus (in no particular order).
Broken Social Scene shows are a different beast, more like a marathon, but if you're not a runner, you'll probably quit early.
Caribou is awesome live, but comparing him to Arcade Fire and Primus is like comparing a fiddle player to an orchestra. Still the nicest guy in the industry.
I'd rank their live performances:
1. Arcade Fire
2. Primus
3. BSS
4. Caribou

There must be people out there that will back me on Caribou easily staking up to AF in terms of performance (popularity aside, and record sales aside). I mean, put those bands in the same room and Caribou wins. Dan Snaith is a thousands times better musician, switches to more instruments than anyone in AF and plays each one better, destroys AF on the double drum kit thing, writes way more complex and interesting songs, their harmonies are impeccable (and not to be fucked wit!), lets loose and jams differently each night, Sun Sun Sun Sun Sun Sun Sun Sun Sun, great visuals and lights. Really I have some solid evidence on the table here. I totally get if people like Arcade Fire better, but to say they are in a different league (or different caliber of string instrument apparently?), no way.
Also seeing "It's all Gonna Break" for the seventh time was better than any AF moment, as was the complete reworking of "Stars and Sons". The BSS-marathon comment is very interesting, I think I just see them as more dynamic in their playing and songwriting which makes for a much more interesting and engaging show for me (those that have only ever seen them at Sasquatch will think I'm loopy, but that did not count as a real BSS show). Seriously, I did like the show, these are just my reasons why I liked the others better. Primus needs no explanation. Actually how do you explain Primus??

My boyfriend went to this, he said it was the best concert he'd ever been to. He went all out and bought VIP tickets and what not, I'm sad I didn't go :/

You obviously dig the hell out of Caribou, and nothing I say will change that. If you are going to be a fanboy of a band, Caribou is a good choice. But you didn't provide any "solid evidence" why Caribou is 1,000 times better, and if you started a comparison poll on a board with more action, you'll have a tough time finding many to agree with you.
Daniel Snaith is a musical freak, but it's just him and some extras. Arcade Fire is a group of musicians, who also play several instruments, so how does putting them both in the same room give Snaith the victory? If you're making a beer commercial, nine really hot chicks are better than one really really hot chick.
Caribou's light show is only interesting because they shine the lights through the band instead of over the band on a monitor. If you do enough drugs, it's probably pretty cool, but if you see the same light show on TV while flipping through the channels sober, you would change the channel within five seconds. It's not interesting.

Thing was, I'm just saying they are in the same league (whose better than who can be another thread, in which Caribou wins!) I was pointing out that the two groups are actually more similar in terms of what they bring to the stage than most would initially think (Double kits, switching instruments, solid group inter play, light show as part of the show). Also "some extras"? My defense to this has nothing to do with being a Caribou fan, this is simply as a music fan, from Lloyd to John Schmersal he constantly works with unbelievebly talanted and cutting edge musicians. Even AF fans would agree that there more than a few "some extras" in AF. I don't think Marshall Allan will be working with AF any time soon either.

You are comparing Caribou to one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the last decade. And live, I've heard more people say, "the best show I've ever seen," then "ho-hum," and that's not counting everyone who refers to Arcade Fire live as "amazing."
You can claim to be a music fan, and not a Caribou fanboy, but the following paragraph reads just like a 14 year old girl claiming 'N Sync is better than Radiohead because Justin Timberlake is hot.

Also there are more people who would claim that Nickleback is the best live band, doesn't mean they are. I am just interested in getting us back on topic to, do they belong in the same league??? I say yes, cuz - well I've already stated some pretty decent tid bits. You say no, cuz more people like Arcade Fire and have backed it up with insults. I have learned a bunch.
