Refused was probably the best punk show I've been to. New Noise and Rather Be Dead were the highlights for sure. The whole Roseland shouting "WOO!" during New Noise was just magical.

Also, two people were booing Sleigh Bells for the first 4-5 songs. I was getting pretty pissed, so I just went up to the guy and yelled "SHUT THE FUCK UP!". He stopped after that.

shouting "Can I scream?" along with the whole venue was worth the price of admission alone. Refused was fucking great all around though.

Yeah, ISAM was awesome. I was running on little no energy though, I'm surprised that I didn't just collapse during all of that.

ISAM was pretty badass. I was up front. I think it would have been better to stand back and get a good view. I wanted my girlfriend to be able to see though. ISAM was pretty cool, but I really enjoyed the second part of his set too. He threw down some awesome drum and bass tracks. The bass up front was pretty fucking deep at times. My first time at the Roseland. It is much smaller than I expected. I barely arrived at 9 for the opener. The chatter during the opener was crazy loud. I think I spotted HG and Stormy by the merch stand, but I am not sure.

Despite being one of the biggest shit-shows of a festival that I've ever been to, I saw a few really excellent performances at Bumbershoot yesterday. My girl was in town with her daughter for the weekend and this was her first ever concert/festival experience, so we pretty much let her navigate our day.

M83 - This was my fourth time seeing them and they put on their best set I've ever seen. I wasn't very thrilled about seeing them again but they absolutely blew me away. Great sound and amazing light show.

Omar Souleyman - Randomly caught him while waiting in line for a beer wristband and ended up staying for his entire set. This dude is a 40 something year old Syrian man who wears full middle-eastern attire while chanting and screaming over insane Arabic influenced dance beats. It was one of the weirdest and intriguing performances I've ever seen.

Two Fresh - So the mainstage at Bumbershoot is inside the old NBA arena, and the process to get inside for headliners is one of the most poorly organized and frustrating things you will ever experience as a festival attendee. In order to even have a chance to get in for Skrillex's set at 9:30, you had to get in line starting at 6, and then sit through Two Fresh's set from 8:15-9:15. As a result, I had to miss Hey Marseilles' set at 8, which really bummed me out, but like I said this festival was really for my girlfriend's daughter so it was a small price to pay. Anyway, Two Fresh ended up blowing my fucking mind last night. They're comprised of two dudes who look and dress like Tyler the Creator, but just play tons of dirty ass instrumental hip-hop and heavy bass dance music. They were so fucking fun and got the entire arena going nuts.

Skrillex - What is there to say really? That kid is on top of the fucking world. I felt like I was at Trans-Siberian Orchestra show or something. He had giant LED screens, lights, lasers, and mother fucking fireballs. The sound was ridiculously great and he put on a hell of a show. Fuck the haters. There were at least 15,000 people going absolutely bonkers and not a single person was having a bad time.

Passion Pit - The assholes running the venue Skrillex played in stopped letting people back into their seats about 20 minutes into his set, so half way through when I had to take a piss I had the option to hold it or leave the venue. An hour of Skrillex was enough for me, so after using the restroom I ran out and caught the last song of Passion Pit. Really wish I could have seen the entire set, because they sounded really fucking good. I'm quite certain they'll be around a lot in the next year though so I'm not too bummed about it.

I sobbed throughout that entire Passion Pit show but I'm pretty sure that had nothing to do with the performance. Had a lot going on in my head so it's hard to gage the performance... It definitely felt better than both Sasquatch shows but still not amazing- maybe I was just too bummed out tho. Anyone else see this show and have a fair review?

Pretty Lights was pretty good last night. He is hit and miss IMO. I really love some of his tracks, but half of them are boring to me. His new tracks were not an exception. I think the best part of his shows are the mash-ups he does with different styles of music.

Zion I was great. Amp Live is just fucking amazing. He throws down some awesome live production. He did some solo stuff before and during the Zion I set. He even pulled out this crazy keytar/sampler thing.

Purity Ring was really awesome even though they only played for 42 minutes. It was really fucking loud and everyone was dancing. They had even more lights than at Sasquatch and it was beautiful.

Went to the shakedown tonight in BHAM and caught a local band called Hooves open for The Fresh & Onlys. Hooves were fucking cool. They sounded like a dirtier and blues-ier Dr. Dog. Fresh & Onlys sound like they listened to a lot of Joy Division. Really enjoyed both of them but the coolest part was getting a text from Souly confirming Indian Handcrafts have landed in her and Weenie's ear drums :)
