Keep in mind that your standard wristband gets you entry to only ONE of the headliners: Decemberists or The National (like that's even a choice to be made).

Keep in mind also that MFNW is run by fucking idiots who oversell every single venue. Buying a wristband OR an individual ticket does not guarantee entry into ANY performance at any time during the festival.

Even so, I'm definitely going to catch the National in Pioneer Square, and no way I'm missing Man Man again, even if they play the fucking Hawthorne.

Typically, MusicfestNW is Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with one show preceding the festival, and one show after.

This year, Panda Bear is playing the Wednesday slot, and the National are playing the Sunday slot. It would be safe to assume Tallest Man on Earth (or any other band for that matter) won't play Wednesday or Sunday.

I'm really curious to see how they can house the National at Pioneer Square Sunday afternoon, and charge people to attend. They can't block off the surrounding streets to accomplish this? Just a guess here, but you'll be "able" to hear the music for free, but if you want to get up close, you'll have to pay the $32 entry charge.

Buying a ticket does guarantee you entrance to the show. I've done this the last three years, and walked past lines over 100 long of wristband folk waiting to enter. You must have had a terrible experience of being drunk and cut off, or knowing someone getting drunk and cut off. They can't tell you no if you own a ticket.

Agreed, the Hawthorne Theater is crap. I swore I would never return after the Miike Snow show, then attended Caribou against my will. Never again!

Dude, do I know you? I'd probably at least recognize you, apparently we are within 100 yards of each other pretty frequently.

Also my body is not capable of becoming drunk enough to be cut off or denied entrance to most places that aren't Mormon churches. Once I reach a certain point I just fall asleep.

Anyway, that was the experience we had trying to see Mudhoney last year at Dante's during MFNW. We didn't care about the openers so we hung out at Union Jacks for a couple hours, and then they wouldn't let us in because the place had reached capacity. Clever Us got in anyway, but we could have done that WITHOUT the tickets.

I don't think I know you, but I am easy to spot at most shows. I'm the guy who pretends to be waiting in line for alcohol the entire show, just to meet women. That's my bag yo.

Sometimes I'll stand just outside of the beer line, far enough for the men to jump in front of me with no regards, but for the occasional female to engage me with a, "hey asshole, are you in line?" That's when it's on, and I pull out my list of prepared responses, which sometimes includes, "I am, but you are more than welcome to cut in front of me." They don't call me an asshole anymore.

Sometimes I meet a really drunk lady who again asks, "Are you in line?" My reply of, "only for your heart babe," works 3.4% of the time.

And I always know when last call is, so I warn the ladies in the area, and 1.3% of them are very thankful.

I don't actually go to shows to see music, because I'm not much of a music fan.

You wouldn't happen to have a sister?

Man, with this and the whole Sasquatch camping thing, we've probably run into each other unconsciously many times. Yeah, I went to said Caribou show (Toro Y Moi are friends of mine from SC and got me on the guest list so I Dr. Garbanzoured why not).

Poor kids (Toro Y Moi at least) were really bummed because the sound there was awful. It got better because Caribou uses their own sound-man (Toro does not), but even with that, the acoustics in that place are pretty shitty. Especially crazy when I saw them the next night in Seattle at Neumo's where the sound was great. Both bands sounded infinitely better at Neumo's.

If you hate your job, and love killing time on the internets while pretending to work, here is a bunch of words about MusicfestNW, and one mildly entertaining joke. It should kill at least ten minutes of your day.

The highlight of the weekend was probably the fucktards at the Wonder Ballroom turning away the early arriving wristband holders because the staff were too stupid to read their job descriptions. They told the people waiting in line who purchased wristbands to leave, only allowing entry to those who picked up a free ticket at Jackpot records. Here's me waiving my middle finger your direction, Wonder Ballroom.

Ah, I see you beat me to post that information in another thread. It took me five minutes to find the old thread, and typing on my phone takes forever, otherwise I would have totally beat you.
