I can vouch for Muse's live show, and I bet Coldplay indeed puts on a great show as well. Solid enough!

I was in love with U2 for a really long time. Rattle and Hum is one of my favorites ever.

That's a pretty good lineup, but there are only two bands I want to see that I have not yet seen on it. Almost every year I get pissed because I can't go to Lollapalooza, but this year I'm pretty stoked on how Sasquatch holds up against it.

I pulled the trigger and bought a pair of Lolla passes. It'll be my first time! And my first time to Chicago properly. WAHOOO!
They're not my #1 on the line up, but I'm actually really excited to see Coldplay.

Awesome, wolfy!! I had a blast at Lolla last year.
Its obviously a much different experience than Sasquatch, but it is a phenomenal experience in its own respect. Try to get there a day early or stay a day late to take in the Chicago scenery. (Chicago is one of my favorite cities)
Also, start looking at hotels--they get expensive really fast. You don't want to book too close to the event. We got lucky last year when the Club Quarters was running a deal. Beautiful hotel, and only 4 blocks away from the fest. Try to look into that one if you can.
And for the love of god, get a legit Chicago pizza. It'll change your life.

Wicked. Thanks for the suggestions, you two. The bad news is I'm not 100% sure I can go yet due to some visa issues, but assuming they get worked out I will definitely be there, and will definitely be tacking at least a night on either end. I'll get right on hotel resos, and I'll look into Club Quarters. Thanks!
I love pizza, so I'll put Giordanos on the list. I've been to NYC a number of times and made a pizzeria tour for myself there. I might have to do a Chicago style one too!
I have been to Chicago once, actually, but only for an overnight, and I think I was actually in the neighboring city where the airport is. I went to a wedding in the UP and we flew in and out of O'Hare. Drove all the way around Lake Michigan in that trip. We stayed 1 night near the airport before our flight home, and all we really did was get a pizza and go to a movie (Clerks 2). That pizza fed two of us for three meals! Don't mess with deep dish!

Though it may be different for Lollapalooza, I did this for Pitchfork and it worked out well.
Look for a cheaper hotel in basically the suburbs of Chicago that's really close to one the CTA train stops far out at the end of any of the lines, then just do the park and ride and take a train downtown everyday. It's like an hour train ride each way, but probably worth it overall.
I stayed here for Pitchfork last year, and, in comparison with staying in any hotel in Chicago, it was both a nice hotel and pretty damn cheap: http://hiltongardeninn.hilton.com/en/gi/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=CHIHEGI

Lumpz, if you don't mind me asking--how much per night did you spend at that place?
an hour long commute each way makes me wonder what price would have made that long ride justifiable.

Including all the fees and everything, it was $284.92 for 4 nights.
And after the hit to my account of my entire botched west coast Sasquatch trip, I had no choice but to go as cheap as possible.

(AKA $71.23 per night) And there was 2 of us (would've been 3 except one of us literally bailed the day before which sucked) so it was $142.46 a person.
How much did you guys end up paying for your place? If it wasn't much more than that, I'm going to hate myself.

Hmm..that's not bad. I suppose since the transit was free to/from, it made sense.
Our hotel was certainly more than that, (floated around $100+/night) but it was nice actually being in the city and doing things after the fest was over each day.
There are some awesome bars and restaurants near the park.
