While it's not perfect, there's some really great stuff on this album. Very happy with the finished product.

Man I love really stuff.

Adding My Bloody Valentine - mbv to my list. That album is gorgeous.

Blue Hawaii - Untogether
Retribution Gospel Choir - 3 (Has anyone else listened to this yet? I know there are a number of Low fans here who need to check it out. It took Alan Sparhawk three albums but he finally made the band sound like the psychedelic version of Low I always wanted them to be. Two 20 minute tracks that could easily go on twice as long.)

I'll probably add Frightened Rabbit relatively soon, I feel pretty much the same way Stamper does right now. Haven't had a chance to listen to MBV or Foals yet but I imagine I'll like both.

Dude! You just got me super excited for that album. I love Low and RGC - 3 sounds tasty.

You'll like it a lot. I was just reading the Pitchfork review (I'm a cliche, deal with it) and they summed it up pretty well:

Quote:
The obvious companion to 3 is last year's Neil Young and Crazy Horse double-LP, Psychedelic Pill. Sparhawk certainly isn't afraid to let his songs go on as long as Young does, and his excellent guitar playing is worthy of comparison to one of rock's all-time great sludgy shape-shifters. But 3 also warrants a nod to Low; it's surprising how well the high points of this record line up with Low's strong suits. The best parts of Low albums often occur in the spaces between the music; few bands are as good about not filling every cubic inch with sound, allowing the listener to settle in and find their own place inside the songs. Retribution Gospel Choir have achieved the same quality on 3; the landscape is thornier, but equally vast, formless, and inviting for ample exploring over multiple listens. Before now, Retribution Gospel Choir records were a little too straight-forward, spilling all of the information they had to offer too quickly. On 3, they've turned up the noise without spoiling the mystery.

Let me know if I missed anything before this lineup drops, because Dr. Garbanzo just showed up with the medicine.

It sounds as much like the version of eels that I fell in love with as anything since Souljacker. I am in love with this record.

Two 10" slabs of bright orange vinyl, ya say? Well, yes, yes, alright, yes to that.
