I moved there last June. Audrey couldn't get a job here so she moved back to Helena for a job and now I'm sad and lonely and want to move back, and also I don't really like California. But the job's good so I'll probably stay. Just dreaming.

Miss you too FD. Thanks for Cate Le Bon. She soundtracks my loneliness.

Who would have known I would have budgeted well enough the past 4 months to make to Coachella and back, Sasquatch and Outside Lands? Based on everything so far and outlook being good - this is probably going to shape up to be the best year of my life in some strange turn of events. Yay music and another CA trip!

Guys, I can't talk enough about Stevie Wonder's set. Take a look at this fucking set list! I'm pretty sure I saw all of the best music ever written live right in front of my face!!!!!!

1.How Sweet It Is (Marvin Gaye cover)
2.Master Blaster (Jammin')
3.Higher Ground
4.The Way You Make Me Feel (Michael Jackson cover)
5.Never Dreamed You'd Leave in Summer
6.Overjoyed (Included part of John Lennon's Imagine)
7.Don't You Worry 'bout a Thing
8.Sir Duke
9.I Wish
10.Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours
11.My Cherie Amour
12.Living for the City
13.I Just Called to Say I Love You
14.You Got Me Runnin' (Jimmy Reed cover)
15.Superstition
16.Isn't She Lovely
17.As
18.Happy Birthday
Encore:
19.She Loves You (The Beatles cover)
20.My Girl (The Temptations cover)

The man has a muthafukin' power! I have never felt so much joy and happiness at a show before. There is some kind of physical positivity that he and his band shoot straight into your body the second they start playing. I've never been to a show with so many "moments". Seeing him walk onto stage was enough to already give me goosepoops, but then to hear his perfect pitch voice go straight into "How Sweet It is" made me lose my mind. I could have cried tears of happiness if I wasn't so unbelievably mesmerized by him and his incredible band. The weirdest thing was hearing him do all the covers he did. For one, he was obviously present during the time and cultural significance that they were written or even close friends and writing partners with the artists themselves which made them feel not like covers at all. Secondly, the man is simply the embodiment of music and rhythm to the point that you know he could have written any one of those songs himself. You could tell that something about each one of them tickled his fancy so much to the point of that he was more so tapping into the "Musical Life Force" and sharing it with all of us opposed to doing a simple cover song. Seriously, hearing Stevie do a Micheal Jackson cover when you're not expecting a Micheal Jackson cover 3 songs into the set is a moment I'll never forget.

The dancing! Oh the dancing. Everyone at the mainstage was getting their groove on. I mean, Ev-Er-Ree-One! There was such a wide cross section of people from completely different walks of life and ages all getting equal joy from the music that it really felt like a 'family affair'. Even Prince couldn't hold a candle to the state Stevie worked the crowd into. It was insane. Dubstep bass drops looked about as exciting as doing "I'm A Little Teapot" compared to the frenzy that every chorus whipped the crowd into. "I Wish" alone had all the ecstasy, energy, and transcendence than any other entire EDM set could try to have.

I've seen plenty of iconic acts over my days, I'd even seen Neil Young and Crazy Horse 2 days before, but I've never been to one where the "hits" never sounded like "classic" hits. His music is so goddamn timeless and his voice is still so perfect that all of his songs sound completely relevant. The extra bits and slight tweaks the band has added to them also made them sound completely fresh. Being in a crowd of thousands upon thousands when the intro to "My Cherie Amour" starts and every one starts joining in was beyond fantastic and magical. Even the cheesy stuff like "I Just Called To Say I Love You" was perfect in a live setting. He played it right after the band had finished tearing "Living For the City" the fuck up and every one was already on cloud nine and ready to share in the biggest Lovefest imaginable. Er'body was hugging and smiling. It sounds so insane and unlike the way I'd normally say things but that shit was incredibly uplifting, nearly spiritual.

Finally, getting to see one of the musical marvels I'd always had on my bucket list... getting to watch Stevie play the harmonica live. Holy mother fucking shit! You could tell the whole crowd was waiting for it all night and when "Isn't She Lovely" started we all knew we were going to get it and get it in spades during the outro. Boy did we ever! He and the band jammed on that shit so hard. Fucking fantastic.

Dude, that's awesome!

I know what you mean, seeing Stevie was one of the most amazing things I have ever experienced. He kicked off what was one of the greatest nights of my life (Stevie Wonder into Jay-Z and then Dan Deacon into Deadmau5. I don't think I will ever top that at a festival).

The man still sounds absolutely flawless and the energy and joy that he brings to his performance is incredible. I don't think I stopped smiling or dancing the entire set.

Although....no Uptight? WHAT UP WIT DAT?
