Crap. I totally owned about 3-4 Weird Al albums. I think my top 5 is highly inaccurate.

First album I ever bought (I got it only for "Blue" by Eiffel 65)

Then my obsession w/ EDM began at age 10 with this purchase:

Then I heard "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" on The End and instantly begged my parents for money so that I could go by this album:

I then became obsessed w/ "alternative" rock for a couple years and that shows with my next 2 purchases:

How does one even hear Daft Punk at 10? I'm so amazed at all of you that were listening to punk rock, industrial, electro, and other genres when you were barely into your double digits.

My best friend's older brother was a massive raver in the early 2000's. I heard "One More Time" and the rest was history.

All the music I listened to was a result of watching MTV (when they actually aired music) and listening to 98.5 KOME religiously. I recall staying up way past my bedtime at the age of 12 so that I could listen to Love Line with Dr. Drew and Ricky Rachtman. Oh those were the days. Mash reruns at midnight on the local FOX syndicate to boot!

Edit: Pearl Jam - Vs is the only album purchased not based on my love of an MTV music video.

I bought this on cassette one summer when I was like 9 years old.
It was right after I watched 'Rattle & Hum' for the first time.
I have since purchased it three more times in different audio formats.

This album remains one of my few perfect albums. I remember I "acquired" my copy when I was about 8 or 9, when I liberated it from my mom's boyfriend's car. When he found out I had taken it, the very next day he went and bought a copy just for me so I could listen to it anytime.

At my school, anybody who was anybody bought this album.
I have been known to bust out 'Ice Ice Baby' at karaoke from time to time.
(see my facebook for further evidence)

I remember when I was in grade one, an older girl at my daycare (I think she was in grade three) told me a story about how the whole class had randomly busted out in Ice, Ice Baby during their math lesson. I was so jealous. And totally thought she was super cool and badass.

1.) First Ever I was around 9-10, Big Shiny chunes 2. I would totally still listen to this, it;s got some great tracks on it.

Prodigy - "Breathe (Edit)"
Blur - "Song 2"
Third Eye Blind - "Semi-Charmed Life"
Smash Mouth - "Walkin' on the Sun"
Sugar Ray - "Fly" (featuring Supercat)
Bran Van 3000 - "Drinking in L.A."
Marilyn Manson - "The Beautiful People"
Holly McNarland - "Numb"
Bush - "Swallowed"
Matchbox 20 - "Push"
Collective Soul - "Precious Declaration (Remix)"
The Tea Party - "Temptation (Edit) (Tom Lord-Alge Mix)"
The Chemical Brothers - "Block Rockin' Beats (Radio Edit)"
Wide Mouth Mason - "My Old Self"
Radiohead - "Paranoid Android"
The Age of Electric - "Remote Control"
Stone Temple Pilots - "Lady Picture Show"

2.)Fush Yu Mang - Smashmouth
[image]

"Walking on the Sun" is still a great fucking jam.

3.) Chumbawamba - Tubthumper
[image]

4.)Then I got into Eminem, like I'm sure every other white boy around my age.

Eminem- Slim Shady LP

I still have a soft spot for earlier Eminem records.

5.)Nirvana - Nevermind
This is probably the most important record to me personally. It's when I started listening to music more than just causally. I was around 13 when I bought this. Strangely enough it was actually this record that got me into Neil Young in round about kind of way.

It's crazy that so many people had Tubthumper but were never compelled to find any other Chumba records.

I owned Tubthumper for like six months before I realized that the song 'Tubthumping' was a thing and that people were already over it. By that time, I was fucking obsessed with that record and I was all over it when they released their follow-up.
