I love that album from The New Law as well. They are looking to tour this summer along the west coast and I am pretty sure they are coming to Bellingham in September. I really want to see what their live show is like

I seriously hope some of you guys look into that Niki & the Dove album. I've listened to it probably 20 times and think it might be my favorite of the year so far. It's just such a fun, beautiful, and intelligently crafted dance-pop album. DO IT!

This is the best thread on the boards. Although I'm not finished catching up. That's a preliminary guess.

I'm really happy that this thread ended up taking off. Aside from being a great place to recommend new albums, we won't find ourselves scrambling to find our favorites of 2012 come December.

Probably time I update mine a bit, this is undoubtedly missing stuff:

Mt Eerie - Clear Moon
Japandroids - Celebration Rock
Lotus Plaza - Spooky Action at a Distance
Willis Earl Beal - Acousmatic Sorcery
Spiritualized - Sweet Heart Sweet Light
Chromatics - Kill For Love
Lil B - God's Father
Horse Feathers - Cynic's New Year

and I'm gonna give that Niki and the Dove album Pea likes so much a spin later tonight.

Sweet! I'll check it out tonight.

UPDATE: Not too bad. Sounds a lot like Wye Oak. It definitely has some nice elements, but I'm not sure if it's really fully clicking upon first listen. I'll give it a few spins!

Said it before, but I'm gonna say it again... the new Santigold album is incredible.

Holy shit is it ever! Great freaking album.

Been a pretty slow year so far, but I think my list looks like:

1. Jack White - Blunderbuss
2. Santigold - Master of My Make Believe
3. Joel Plaskett Emergenct - Scrappy Happiness

ummmmm....Sleigh Bells maybe? Miike Snow I guess? This year kind of sucks so far

Pretty sure you meant disagree? In which case, I agree with you. 2012 has been full of some kickass new music. Didn't you also not really enjoy many releases from 2011, wompwomp? What's yer deal mang??

Also, I don't think Valtari is streaming anywhere yet. We all plundered it from the open seas.

Yeah I agree, 2012 has been full of solid releases. Enough that I can't keep up with it in the $ department. I almost pre-ordered that Sigur Ros today but after shipping it was over $40
