It took me a long time to title this thread. This is not for our list of top albums of 2011, but a place to post top albums lists from various publications. I'll start:
Uncut: http://stereogum.com/891311/uncuts-top-50-albums-of-2011/list/
50 Unknown Mortal Orchestra Unknown Mortal Orchestra 49 Arbouretum The Gathering 48 Cornershop Featuring Bubbley Kaur Cornershop And The Double-O Groove Of 47 The Caretaker An Empty Bliss Beyond This World 46 Iceage New Brigade 45 Mikal Cronin Mikal Cronin 44 chune-yArDs w h o k i l l 43 St. Vincent Strange Mercy 42 Jenny Hval Viscera 41 Raphael Saadiq Stone Rollin 40 Kate Bush 50 Words For Snow 39 Dawes Nothing Is Wrong 38 His Golden Messenger From Country Hai East Cotton 37 Little Dragon Ritual Union 36 Jonny Jonny 35 My Morning Jacket Circuital 34 Fatoumata Diawara Fatou 33 Low CMon 32 Gil Scott Heron & Jamie XX Were New Here 31 Destroyer Kaputt 30 Tim Hecker Ravendeath, 1972 29 Paul Simon So Beautiful Or So What 28 King Creosote & Jon Hopkins Diamond Mine 27 Bjφrk Biophilia 26 The Decemberists The King Is Dead 25 Bill Callahan Apocolypse 24 Real Estate Days 23 Thurston Moore Demolished Thoughts 22 Gang Gang Dance Eye Contact 21 James Blake James Blake 20 Ry Cooder Pull Up Some Dust And Sit Down 19 Drive-By Truckers Go-Go Boots 18 Tinariwen Tassili 17 Feist Metals 16 Jonathan Wilson Gentle Spirit 15 Wilco The Whole Love 14 Kurt Vile Smoke Ring For My Halo 13 Tom Waits Bad As Me 12 Fleet Foxes Helplessness Blues 11 Laura Marling A Creature I Dont Know 10 The War On Drugs Slave Ambient 09 Bon Iver Bon Iver 08 Wild Beasts Smother 07 Radiohead The King Of Limbs 06 The Horrors Skying 05 Josh T. Pearson Last Of The Country Gentlemen 04 White Denim D 03 Metronomy The English Riviera 02 Gillian Welch The Harrow & The Harvest 01 PJ Harvey Let England Shake
Generally I trust a list where I haven't listened to at least some of the albums in the top ten, and this one looks relatively balanced.

wow at the rate they're going, stereogum's lists will be identical to rolling stone's in the next few years.

Is Stereogum anti hip-hop/rap? There are six or seven names on there I know nothing about, otherwise I don't see anything remotely close.

oh god I lack reading comprehension skills. That's uncut's list. It made no sense as a stereogum list.
that list is pretty awful

I like this thread! Between these lists and the board member lists (I'm going to start that thread tomorrow after all) we'll all have some great albums to explore.

I've been afraid to listen to it for some reason. Charlie Darwin is outstanding though.

Personally I think it's criminal that Primus isn't on any of these lists, but the fact that a newer band like Man Man is completely missing seems nuts.
Sad to see no mention of TMBG either.

The Paste list is really bad. Radiohead, The Decemberists, My Morning Jacket, and Wilco are all as high as they are only due to name recognition. Camp kinda sucked, and it's the only rap album on the list. It is in no way exciting to say that Bon Iver had the #1 album of the year, nor do I really think it's true - it just was pretty good to a lot of people, so it showed up on a lot of ballots. Any aggregated list will have that problem, which I hope is what that is.

Which hip hop albums were worth mentioning this year? The Throne, maybe Drake, maybe Lil B...? I liked Curren$y's album. I don't know, I guess I just don't listen to enough.
