Is Stereogum anti hip-hop/rap? There are six or seven names on there I know nothing about, otherwise I don't see anything remotely close.

I like this thread! Between these lists and the board member lists (I'm going to start that thread tomorrow after all) we'll all have some great albums to explore.

I've been afraid to listen to it for some reason. Charlie Darwin is outstanding though.

Personally I think it's criminal that Primus isn't on any of these lists, but the fact that a newer band like Man Man is completely missing seems nuts.

Sad to see no mention of TMBG either.

The Paste list is really bad. Radiohead, The Decemberists, My Morning Jacket, and Wilco are all as high as they are only due to name recognition. Camp kinda sucked, and it's the only rap album on the list. It is in no way exciting to say that Bon Iver had the #1 album of the year, nor do I really think it's true - it just was pretty good to a lot of people, so it showed up on a lot of ballots. Any aggregated list will have that problem, which I hope is what that is.

Which hip hop albums were worth mentioning this year? The Throne, maybe Drake, maybe Lil B...? I liked Curren$y's album. I don't know, I guess I just don't listen to enough.
