What I've really liked about Moonface so far is how minimalistic it is and how Krug explores the potential of very limited sound palettes at great length. I feel like enlisting a whole crew of musicians will inevitably change that.
I don't much care for Spencer Krug outside of Moonface. Wolf Parade was never my bag, and Sunset Rubdown is SOFA KING melodramatic that I can't really take much of it. I don't want Moonface to start sounding like Wolf Parade. |

Understood. Call me a fan of the melodramatic cause I love me some Sunset Rubdown!
I see Moonface as an outlet for experimentation. It will probably take on many different forms as new albums are released (assuming it continues)...waxing gibbous perhaps?

I pretty much agree with what you're saying here, except that the songs Krug wrote on Apologies to the Queen Mary were quality stuff.

Spoiler alert! It's Treats 2.0....and it's still fucking awesome. Ha ha, they even have a "Rill Rill version 2" (End of the Line). Good times.

Don't know why I haven't mentioned this but I am going to go ahead and call it: my favorite album of 2012 will be "Mr. Impossible" by Black Dice. Could be yours too. Out April 10th on the "very fine Ribbon Music record label".
I love that when I searched this board for Black Dice I found this:

Ok I make a badass bruschetta.
Roast some red peppers on a grill. Grill them till their black and then pull them off and let them cool a bit. peel off the outter skin and then chop them up. Take some garlic cloves and toss them in some olive oil, salt and pepper. Put them in the oven and roast them until golden brown. Chop them up and add them into a bowl with the peppers. Dice some vine tomatos and add them into the bowl. Pour in a bit of extra virin olive oil into the bowl. Just enough to coat everything really well. Add some sea salt, fresh cracked pepper and fresh chopped basil. Let that sit in the fridge for a couple of hours or overnight. A good french baguette or toasted focaccia goes really well with it.
That's the simple version. If you want to kick it up a few notches make a balsamic glaze for it. Get a pot and put in a bunch of balsamic vinegar. Bring it to a low boil and then add some brown sugar to it. Add enough so it takes off the acidic edge to the vinegar. Then let it reduce until it becomes more viscous. Then take your bruschetta, add some crumbled feta cheese to it before serving. Then place it on your bread and then drizzle the glaze over it. Easier version of this is if there is a Superstore in your town, I've found that some of them actually carry a balsamic glaze in a little white bottle in the vinegar section. It's pretty decent. |

So I'm on the second song of the debut album from this "fun" band that is playing Sasquatch. It's everything HG hates about music, and has already ripped off Queen on an unforgivable level, but hot damn this is some catchy stuff. They're definitely the next big thing in the world of bubblegum indie music.
EDIT: Oh god. Some of these songs are worse than anything Owl City has ever put out.

Hear for yourself...
I can't remember the last time I heard a song this awful. It seriously sounds like Owl City and Simple Plan in a blender.

Watch it spin around to a beautiful oblivion.
And yes, I'm listening to it anyways. They're pretty much the anti-Gramma, I agree.
