Yup. I grew up with the cassettes and fuckin loved them because it was a cassette I had and it jived with my kiddie brain. Later when I was nearing twenty and knew a little more about musics I realized how great of a songwriter Roland actually was.

He has one of the truly great underappreciated voices of rock and roll.

Man I haven't thought about Tears For Fears in ages. The Seeds of Love is a great album and one that was a staple for me at the end of my junior high years. Fuck that makes me sound old.

I love Tears For Fears, especially that song. Speaking of the Donnie Darko soundtrack, the Gary Joules version of "Mad World" came on at trivia this week. Nailed it.

Nice. I fucking love the score from that movie. The Liquid Spear Waltz is sooooooooooooo good... and so is Gretchen Ross.

Best line: But no matter how hard I tried to give Korn a fair shake—which, truth be told, probably wasn’t that hard—my personal grudge against the band had turned into an unstoppable Anton Chigurh rampaging across the terrain with nothing but bloody murder on its mind.

This article is one in a series called "What Ever Happened to Alternative Nation," chronicling alternative music one year at a time starting in 1990. Its really good. The AV club is quickly sucking away my time... Their writers are super good.

Man, something got me on a Blink 182 kick today and I don't know what it was. I was 11 when Dude Ranch was released and by the time Enema of the State came out 2 years later, I (along with just about my entire age group) was at our prime age to be sucked in by these guys. I wonder if teenagers nowadays have any idea just how big they were in the late 90's in early 2000's with the help of TRL and album sales still being at the height of their popularity. I remember once I started getting into my metal listening days I was fast to deny enjoying them, but now I love going back and revisiting their music for some insanely awesome nostalgia. As cheesy as they were, I really miss those pop-punk years that dominated the music world sometimes.

Oh, and "I Miss You" became a single for Blink right around the time my high school girlfriend and I broke up so that song STILL tugs at my emotions haha.

Why miss them? Its nice to be nostalgic for them, but I'm glad that the music world moved on.

Also, Josie is the best song about star wars.

I don't mean "miss them" as in I want that style of music to come back. I meant just as a "looking into my past" sort of way.
