Agree with Shax, last year Osheaga just got waaaaaaaaay too big. It seemed like three quarters of the vendors ran out of food on the first day by like 4 in the afternoon. There were so many people, it took forever to get anywhere.
Reallly frustrating compared to how awesome it was in 2011.

I wouldn't recommend Lollapalooza unless you know people in Chicago. Hotels are really expensive, and you'll end up wasting part of the day walking from one end of the festival to the other to catch the bands you want to see. It's literally a mile long from main stage to main stage.
ACL is put on my the same crew, and is a much better festival. It's within walking distance from the massive Austin downtown bar scene, and hotels are much more affordable.
Each festival has a 10pm curfew, and neither has camping. Therefore, I would just recommend saving up for Coachella next year. It's the best festival, and you'll probably have to buy your tickets in a couple months anyway.

I hate to be an internet cliche, "I'm going I'm going I'm going, wait, turns out I'm not going," so no promises. I'll look at the lineup another 20 times, poke around on the Bonnaroo board about logistics, then get wasted Friday night and decide then. If tickets go on sale Saturday, I'll f.igure it out by then.

Wonk! I was mostly just throwin' that up against the wall to see what would stick. You actually sound more serious about it than I thought, which is awesome news. I won't be able to afford tickets until next month but so long as tickets don't sell out, I am feeling very committed to going. Last year tickets were still available in June, so I'm trying not to worry about it too much but it does seem like festivals are selling out crazy-quick this year. Bonnaroo is a steamy, filthy, disgusting venue- but it knows that and it makes up for it with lineups like this, live music literally all-night and an amazing community of super awesome, welcoming and fun people.

Part of me is saying, "this is the first time ever you've had a realistic chance to do this," and the other part is saying, "it's two weeks after Sasquatch, you'll probably end up dead. Go to Outside Lands and/or ACL instead."
Animal Collective is pretty much the reason I'm considering going, plus four of the top five are must sees. I have exactly one must see on the Sasquatch lineup.

So, nobody decided they were going to Boise for Treefort? It's kind of been at the back of my mind. I think I'll probably have some time off around then too.

This was like 3 pages ago, but why would anyone compare anything to Primavera? That's just mean.

I almost bought a ticket. But the venues are pretty tiny, which initially seemed cool... until I read that people with VIP tickets can cut in the line and due to the small venue sizes, a fair ammount of peopel don't end up making it into the big name (Animal Collective) shows.

Our minds will be blown and we will die but it will be totally rad.
The headliners, the undercards- it's fucking stacked. I was planning on taking a road trip to Salt Lake City in March to see Animal Collective/Dan Deacon again. But, now that Bonnaroo dropped this bomb on me, the Salt Lake City fund is now the Manchester, TN fund.

I'm going to do my best noob impression, like that girl who got banned the other day, so here goes it.
Is "tent city" car camping, or do you have to park in a parking lot and haul your gear to the tent spot, like how coachella used to be. The site is full of RV camping options, but isn't specific about car camping. I assume a large percentage of the festival drives there?
Also (here comes the rich asshole part), I remember reading on another message board five years ago that VIP camping is the way to go, because you are guaranteed a spot by the entrance, instead of possibly being miles away. I don't see VIP camping either. Did they get rid of that?

Ah fuck, VIP camping is only available in pairs. Don't they know I want to go because I don't have a +1?

Renting an RV would be the fucking way to go at Bonnaroo! Last year Burrito and I were like, "If we ever came back to Bonnaroo, it will be in an RV." But we're poor assholes, so that probably won't happen.
