Ya dude, The Black Angels sounded fucking incredible at Coachella, and I've probably never had as much fun as I had the time I saw Trail of Dead.

Dude, I would remove probably for Omar and make that a must. Bosnian Rainbows is fucking awesome.

If I was in there on Friday I would maybe check out Torche and then probably all of the ones that you already said.

Saturday I would be going to Red Fang no matter what. I know they are Portland and you probably have seen them but they are really fucking good. Also, OFF!, The Sword and Refused would be on my list.

Sunday A Place To Bury Strangers. I have never seen live and really want to. Fuck that, Black Angels vs Trail of Dead....worst conflict.

I really wish I could go to this. Looks like a blast. GO SEE OMAR!

Cool man, I almost went to the Omar show last weekend in Portland because of your suggestion. What is "Bosnian Rainbows?" Is that the name of the album, and if not, what album should I be listening to before next weekend? I only listed it as a probable can't miss because I hated his lead singer last time I saw Omar.

I'll probably see Torche since you and Pea both recommended them, if I am there early enough.

Saturday, yes I want to see Refused. I caught part of their set at Coachella, and it was fantastic. I'll probably close the night with Girl Talk however because that is where my crew will be. I had a ticket for the Refused show a couple months ago, but I had to work late that night, and it was an early show, so I missed it.

I saw Off! at Coachella, and it was a riot. I will go again, but I think I might like Tanlines. Where is Cbats to tell me how great Tanlines are? The Sword is a metal band I've been meaning to catch for years, but something always comes up. I have to see Johnny Rotten during that slot, but I'm not expecting much, so I'll probably split the sets. Believe it or not, I've never seen Red Fang live. They are playing really early, and I have many chances. Even my non-music loving friends rave about Red Fang. I'll catch them eventually.

I pretty much can't stand the Black Angels. I hear they are great live, so I'll try to check it out, especially because I hate Aarabmuzik much more, and I've seen Trail of the Dead (Sasquatch 2006, what a great show). I've never gotten into a Place to Bury Strangers, but I want to see them, and probably will. I've never heard of the bands playing opposite them.

Thanks for suggestions. This helps a lot.

Wow, even Foxy is chiming in. They overlap, but Black Angels end 15 minutes after the Dead, so I should be able to see part of their set. I don't know the other bands playing then.

Sorry, I was at a Waka Flocka Flame concert I won tickets to when this conversation started. I've honestly never listened to tanlines so I'm gonna be a let down there.

Bub B is fucking great and you should definitely go see him. You might remember him from this:

I haven't listened to them but Icona Pop got a fair bit of buzz from CMJ. Sounds like it's overproduced electro pop but it could be fun. Hannibal Burress is funny as well if there isn't anything else in that time spot.

Saturday afternoon is pretty sparse. I like Schoolboy Q quite a bit, though it be better if any of his black hippie friends were there with him. Real Estate is great music to zone out to while having dinner. Disappears is one of the guys from Sonic Youth I think. I'm pretty sure you already mentioned you're a fan but Danny Brown is really great live and you shouldn't miss him.

It looks like you're pretty covered on Sunday but La Dispute and Class Actress are cool I guess.

WAKA FLOCKA WAKA FLOCKA. I love that fucker.

Bun B: I didn't know that was him, but rappers guest so much, it's hard to keep track who is who. I'll probably split Bun B with X.

Tanlines: I know nothing about them, but I saw them on Pitchfork.

Icona Pop/La Dispute/Class Actress: I've never listened to either, but thanks for the suggestions. They all play early, when I'll be wandering around looking for free beer.

Danny Brown: I don't listen to him much, but I am a fan. He wasn't can't miss. It's him or NoMeanNo, so I might see him.

Hannibal Burress: I saw him on the Burn recently, and he was the least funny person there. Maybe.

Real Estate: I couldn't get into them on album, and they bored me to tears live.

Disappears: I'm not a Sonic Youth fan, but I didn't know this was a side project, so thanks for the insight.

Schoolboy Q: I've never heard of him, I'm downloading it now.

Again, thanks for the suggestion. There aren't many hip hop fans on the board, so I'm glad you chimed in.

Alright folks, Fun Fun Fun Fest starts next weekend. I don't listen to nearly as much music as I used to, so I've never heard of half of these bands. Help me out here, who do I need to see. The lineup is here:

http://www.funfunfunfest.com/artists

Schedule is here:

http://www.funfunfunfest.com/events

My can't misses are listed below:

Friday:
Run DMC
Macklemore
Tomahawk
Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (probably)

Saturday:
Why?

Sunday:
De La Soul
Deerhoof (just for Lumpy, since I've missed them 17 times over the last six years)
Titus Andronicus (end of their set after Deerhoof)
Fang Island

As you can see, I have a lot of holes to fill. Badchoices, help me with the butt-rock please?

Thursday: Dwarves shows are highly regarded. I haven't seen one yet, but would like to.

Friday: Your Friday must-sees are solid; I would also say go see Converge if you are going to be there anyways for Tomahawk. They put out good records. I saw them 5 years ago and it wasn't the greatest show, but from what I hear they have improved.

Saturday: David Cross > OFF!. David Cross is the funniest standup comedian I've ever seen. OFF! Is good, but not really anything special.

Why?'s new stage layout/lineup will not disappoint.

I saw Refused again (indoors) after Coachella and it was a fucking blast.

Sunday: See E. Nutsacks if that's your thing. I thought BMSR sucked live earlier this year, and I like their records.

I can't say enough good things about Atlas Sound's current set and the way he performs guitar, bass, drums, vocals, and harmonica all by himself, but I know De La is your shit. I personally did not think they were so hot when I saw them recently.

You know I see lots of shows. Deerhoof is not only my favorite band on this lineup, but also in my top 5 favorite live acts. Their new songs sound especially good live. Do not miss this. Lumpy will kick you.

Okay, if you and Gramma think Dwarves are worth seeing, I don't need a further explanation. It will be a surprise for me. DON'T SAY ANYTHING MORE ABOUT THEM (even though I already asked, pretend I didn't).

I know who David Cross is, the bald guy. I (almost) always defer to music over comedy. I agree, Off! isn't anything special, but a lot of fun.

I won't miss Why?

Edward Sharpee isn't my call. I loved them live the last time I saw them, but I don't like their new album.

Pea is already making me see Converge.

I like Atlas Sound, and would definitely catch him minus conflicts. He is a major conflict, so that isn't going to happen. I've tried and tried and tried, but Deerhunter just doesn't do it for me. I love their music, but not like ya'll love their music. I'm sorry I'll have to miss Atlas Sound, but if I didn't have to see De La Soul, I would check out the poor boy's Godspeed. No one will be at that Atlas Sound show, because Fucked Up is also playing at the same time. Four awesome bands at the same time.

Again, thanks. You boarders really came through tonight with the multiple suggestions. Almost everyone has already responded, so I thank you.

Touche. I have no interest in seeing the Head and the Heart again, and I extremely dislike Wavves, so it's Danny Brown or NoMeansNo. I'm all about Danny Brown now.

What is "Bosnian Rainbows?"

Bosnian Rainbows is the name of the band that Omar is playing with right now. He booked a ton of shows as Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group and it morphed into Bosnian Rainbows. He did a cool interview here http://www.cityartsonline.com/going-deep-omar-rodriguez-lopez that he talks about it a bit.

The album that will be closest to what they play is http://omarrodriguezlopez.bandcamp.com/album/octopus-kool-aid but that is just because it has Terri Gender Bender on vocals. The group that is touring played stuff I have never heard before. Deantoni Parks is on drums (he drummed for the recent Volta album). Don't know the fourth guy but he is on some synths. Terri is an amazing performer. She leads Le Butcherettes and you could argue she steals the show at Bosnian Rainbows until you start watching Deantoni or Omar. Thats when I realized it was one of my favorite shows because I could watch all three of them and think it was the coolest thing ever. Anyways, you probably wont know the songs but I didn't either and had a great time.
