Those are my two favorite Joe Jackson albums (and I love every last one of them a lot). The songs on Night and Day are so great, but that schmaltzy 80's production hasn't aged very well. There's a couple duds on Beat Crazy but it is probably probably #1 for me; Graham Maby is one of the most fantastic bass players out there (he was TMBG's bass player for a while, too).

Those Preservation records are so much better and cooler and weirder than anything else the Kinks ever did.

The Preservation albums are pretty amazing. It's funny to hear the background story of how much was cut, chopped and rushed. It always seemed to me as a very deliberate direction when I first heard them. I actually really like that run of Village Green, Arthur, Lola, and Muswell.

Yeah it really puts my brain in a good place. It was my walkin' around music in the heavily falling snow this afternoon, which really could not have been any more perfect.

My favorite thing to listen to in the snow, bar none, is the Nutcracker. Maybe a little cliche, but it just goes together so damn well.
