Animal Collective doing a European tour which ends at Primavera. Come on Sasquatch fuckin MAKE IT HAPPEN.
I don't think I've mentioned this HG, but Animal Collective is one of my favorite bands, and seeing them right after Feels was a religious experience for me. I say give them a huge slot, at night, and let them redeem their panned performance from a couple of years ago.

I say the same! Let 'em close the Wook, that'll shut people up about the '09 set (which was AWESOME regardless; they fucking played SLIPPI dude, so go to hell).

Why the fuck not? They usually have big 'indie' bands, well-liked by Pitchfork, headlining the Wookie stage. Obviously mid-day on the mainstage didn't work for Animal Collective, they'd be perfect on the Wook.

Wasn't Deadmau5 one of the top billed acts at Sasquatch last year? Didn't he play on a side stage? Cool, let's stop acting like Coachella and Sasquatch have anything at all to do with one another.

Deadmau5 was billed like 15th on the sasquatch poster last year (although he was billed 5 on the coachella poster). Last year the second line on the Coachella poster included LCD Soundsystem, Thom Yorke, Pavement, Faith No More and Tiesto. None of those acts would play the wookie stage.
Coachella doesn't influence the likelihood of a band being at sasquatch that much but it sure as hell does give you an idea of how famous they are/how much a band costs. In this case, Coachella paid a shit ton of money for Animal Collective

See, that sounds like speculation to me, especially considering Animal Collective hasn't done anything since they played at Sasquatch two years ago.
If Deadmau5 was 15th on Squatch's poster but 5th on Coachella's, that kind of deflates your argument. You can bet Squatch paid a shit-ton for the Mau5, which is why the headliners last year were appealing to the right crowd but not necessarily as 'big' as they've been in the past, but if he is such a big get for Coach that they put him fifth or so, shouldn't he be right up at the top of the list at Sasquatch?

not that i care to get involved in this argument.. but by the time of sasquatch 2011 animal collective will have released 1 ep + 2 solo lps since their last appearance

shit I can't believe I didn't notice how stupidly contradictory that was...
I guess my whole point was that Animal Collective apparently costs a lot of money, presumably significantly more than Deadmau5 did and I would be shocked if they did anything other than subheadline or headline

That's a good point. Tiesto, for instance, might be an international superstar, but nobody gives a shit about him in the Pac NW. I don't know if that's true, I'm just guessing.

Solo lps don't mean anything. We won't be hearing any Panda Bear/Avey Tare songs.

Two records that are not AC records and a 5-song EP can't account for the band moving from 4pm to a sub-head slot. Either they've got something major up their sleeve or there's no logic behind it at all, both seem equally likely.

In any case, I hope AC are at Sasquatch because they'll likely be playing new material. That's their MO - testing new shit out on stage for a year before it goes to the studio. That's what made MPP so...tight, in a sense. They're a jam band at heart, but they get that shit done on stage, and edit in the studio.
