let's not lose sight of the fact that based on their schedule there's only a slight glimmer of any shot at landing Pulp. But if we do?....... awww snap.

They have to work with what they have: the scenery, the vibe, the feel of an exclusive party. They have to bring in the rare acts because Coachella is going to have the Kanyes and the Paul McCartneys. Size restrictions alone dictate that Sasquatch can NEVER compete with Coachella, and so realizing that having an exclusive act will cause people to choose Sasquatch in ADDITION to or INSTEAD of Coachella is their only option.
When there's only 35,000 tickets you can sell, that's just as effective as having the most expensive band in the country on your lineup. |

I'm done with this argument. We're both in a agreement that we'd rather have a headliner like pulp and everything else is semantics. On a pure numbers level FF would draw more people, that is all I'm saying. They will be the first name on the line up but undoubtedly there will be someone cooler on there
edit: and never forget that the idiot bro acts subsidize the rest of the festival for us

We should just have Drew ask his friend if Pulp will be at Sasquatch?
But come on, Pulp? No way. I don't think the Massive Attack comparison is really fair either. Massive Attack has been around, their fans have seen them play, and they toured last year. Many of us thought Pulp would never get back together (it's not like Jarvis Cocker needs the money), and a US tour is very unlikely.

Last year was the first opportunity I ever had to see them... and i've been listening to them since 1993.

Massive Attack haven't played in the US since 1993? I wasn't aware. They still were touring last year though, so you had several chances to see them. We will be lucky if Pulp hits US soil.

I'm from Bermuda... and unless I spent my entire teenage years in a coma, I'm fairly certain they never played there.

But you're right. They did tour last year. And I saw them. Twice.

So your reply was intended to be argumentative about an entirely different point? I bet there are a lot of places in this world Massive Attack has never played, or any band for that matter.

wasn't being argumentative at all actually. you had previously stated that Massive Attack have been around and their fans have had chances to see them. i consider myself a fan - and have been for close to 20 years, but the first chance i had to see them was last year. that's all i was saying.
i was challenging your argument on the comparison between Massive Attack coming to Sasquatch vs a US tour by Pulp.
EDIT: i WASN'T challenging your argument... etc etc etc

Just a point of clarification - are you talking about Sasquatch? I thought the capacity was something like 25,000 per day, tops. Someone please correct me. The Wikipedia page is worthless.

Well, there are about 5 different sources that say the Gorge's capacity is 20-25k, but wouldn't that be just for the mainstage area? I remember last year there was a rumour going around that the festival sold to close to 50k for one of the days.

All I can find is 25K but I heard when the Cure played in 2008, there was 35K because the tickets from the cancelled concert were good for that day.
I think 25k is the right Dr. Garbanzoure, but it would not surprise me if it was 30k.
