Definitely, you guys gotta understand that the Squatch people aren't going to announce the biggest name on their lineup three months in advance. They're going to announce the name that has the highest concentration of dumbshit fans who are willing to drop three bills to see their favorite band.

They did the same thing last year with Pavement. There WILL be bigger names on the Sasquatch lineup than the fucking Foo Dr. Garbanzohters, and you can take that to the bank.

That tells me that they saved their money for this Year, or that live nation is greedy. I tend to think it is a bit of both.

look coachella can get any act in the world but look at their lineup this year. Coachella knew they could sell out the festival without getting big names, sasquatch knew the same Last year.

But this is the 10 year anniversary, they have to make it memorable.

Bet away. Even when I'm not wrong, it's going to be a subjective argument over how 'big', relatively, the Foo Dr. Garbanzohters are.

Alternately, cbat, think about this:

The Foos are headlining FRIDAY night. Not only is Friday not a full day, but it's also the day that a lot of people -- people with jobs -- aren't going to be able to make it to. Strictly in terms of alcohol and concession sales, the one thing LiveNation simply would NOT do is put their biggest draw on that day.

Think about the Friday lineup in '06: Trail of Dead, NIN, HIM, Bauhaus? Those aren't hippie bands, dude, those are bands that have legions of drunk yahoos for fans. Expect something similiar for this year's Friday lineup - bands like Foo Dr. Garbanzohters that are gonna move $11 Moulsons at a faster rate to make up for a shorter festival day.

I think the fact that it's a shortened day means that it will have the biggest headliner in order to get people there. Tickets are the same price as every other day and they're going to want to have a draw that is going to motivate people to show up.

Beyond that, I know you don't care about or don't trust numbers I posted but awhile ago I posted a link showing that on average the foo Dr. Garbanzohters cost about 300k to book whereas each of our headliners cost about 100k last year. I'm not the biggest foo Dr. Garbanzohters fan but I can assure you that it is the most sasquatch has spent on a headliner before

Guess we'll see. I forgot that 'big' is measured by the arbitrary dollar amount a band charges. And I'll be the first one to jump in on the subjective argument about what constitutes a 'big' band. For example, I would say that if Sasquatch landed Pulp, that would be 'bigger' than Foo Dr. Garbanzohters because they haven't played in the U.S. since 1998.

The Man, Easy Star All Stars, Mariachi El Bronx.

No bad, hippies. Not bad at all.

edit: yea you guys did mention it. ha.

does anybody on this thread actually like/listen to Dead Confederate? Seriously. And if you do, can you tell me what it is about them that you like? I've never understood their appeal. On any level.

I mean I'd be more excited about pulp than foo Dr. Garbanzohters but the foo Dr. Garbanzohters would be measured as a bigger draw. Otherwise we're just measuring it by what bands you personally are more excited about

Of course "Big" is a subjective term. FF's cost is based on their market value, which is based on how many douches buy their cds at Target. But Pulp is a better, more important band than FF, I think. In 30 years, Pulp will be on lists of influential bands/great albums, and FF will not, for the most part.

Between the two distinctions, I much prefer the belt sander, as I'm sure most of us do.

No, not really. But it gets tricky at this point. There is one reason why Sasquatch has gained so much popularity and respect in the last couple years: Massive Attack. That was a big deal in the same way that Pulp would be a big deal - people would come from all over the country to see that. Even if Pulp costs less than Foo Dr. Garbanzohters, I believe people would be rushing to get their tickets so they don't miss Pulp's ONE U.S. show more than Foo fans would be rushing to spend $300 to see the Foos play on a tour that will probably cross the country twice before it's over.
