Me too!

The part about them being a one hit wonder was just interesting considering Last Night was their only radio hit.

That means Yeah Yeah Yeahs are one hit wonders (actually, i can't remember the last time I heard Maps on the radio) and Interpol are no hit wonders. Fortunately, these phrases mean nothing since who listens to the radio anyway?

I don't know how it is where you live. But the radio here in Canada doesn't play anything even mildly progressive. I would be surprised if my local radio station even had the 'Last Night' single.

I know, I was just thinking about that myself! A lot of the bands that play these fests aren't even on the radio anyways and how many no hit wonders have headlined. The radio is so stupid and unimportant these days.

I do! When I work, I am confined to a truck for hours on end, I have to have something to entertain me. Which as it turns out is talk radio, even if their talking about gardening or politics; It is still miles ahead of Nickleback or whatever they play these days.

In spite of myself, I enjoy 'Turn on the Bright Lights' and 'Antics' (although that has mostly to do with the input of Peter Katis). I have no desire to see them perform live, though.

Don't bother. I have seen them twice. I will assure you it is nothing to write home about.

Yep, Interpol are boring live. No energy. It's funny to think how big they were after their first two albums, and now we're hoping they don't fill a spot on the lineup

Heed the warnings. They're just not worth it.

I've spent roughly 3% of my posts on this board telling all who will listen how average Interpol is live. If it wasn't for Passion Pit's first Sasquatch performance, Interpol would be the worst show I've seen at Sasquatch (and I saw the Mars Volta).

However, I hear their current tour has a pretty cool light show, and Turn On The Bright Lights is one of my favorite albums from the aughts. Antics is pretty good too. Hearing a couple songs off their first two albums, while watching a cool light show in a venue (as opposed to the arenas they played the last couple years), is worth the price of admission.

Also, I am amazed Gramms likes Antics, and mildly amused he likes Turn On The Bright Lights.

I'm starting to get a real kick out of folks' pre-conceived notions about what they think I might or might not like.

I've used this quote before probably, but I'll use it again. It's a Mr. Burns quote from that old Simpsons episode about Mt. Splashmore, the one with Ringo Starr where Marge paints Burns nude:

"I don't know art, but I know what I hate - and I don't hate this."

I don't know how to effectively communicate that I'm not a snob, that I just know what I hate. Pitchfork really does a number on some people's ability to establish their own taste, I think (that's not addressed to anyone in particular).

Like, I'm really into Vampire Weekend, too, and even *I* think that doesn't jive with my personality.

The worst show I ever saw was Interpol back in 2005.
From what I hear, they haven't improved...

Please, I know your music taste better than I know my own musical taste. I am cursed to the point that I like pop music music, so KOL's "Sex Is On Fire," will always remain, in my mind, a great pop song.

I also love Portugal. The Man, for their live shows, and although I really dig their music, I don't reach for it twelve times a day.

You like great music, and have turned me onto some great shit I've never heard, but you dislike music that isn't unique, which is why you would never like KOL or Portugal. The Man. I'm not surprised you like Vampire Weekend, and I would've been more surprised if you didn't like MGMT's new album (which is awesome). But Interpol was never unique. That is why I am surprised you like them.
