I wasn't too heartbroken about the stage last year because it was completely necessary, but i live 150 miles away i feel bad for those who hadn't been to the gorge thousands of times.

Definitely! Anybody who hasnt seen The Gorge without the backing missed out indefinitely. But it was a necessary change, imo.

I'm actually a huge fan of Randy Newman. I saw him in Seattle, it was fantastic.

He's a great songwriter. Great great great. Great like George Gershwin. Not all, but I imagine a fair number of his songs will still be around in 100-200 years. Not something I'd say about very many people.
