I do pay for my music but in a bit of a roundabout way. Is anyone else here a subscriber to the zune pass? 15 bucks a month and i can download all the albums i want straight from my zune no pc needed. I dont know how much the artist gets in royalties but I'm sure its more than if i downloaded thier shit for free.

And if your in love with your Ipod save your zune-bashing replies. I have had both the ipod touch and the zune hd and if my zune broke today, tomorrow i would buy a new zune

I won an 8gb Zune at `08 Squatch. Rock Band competition in the XBox tent. They're pretty sweet little machines. Plus y'all probably didn't know that I can play the fake guitar like I was Zeus.

Im actually quit surprised at how many people are down for a Kanye appearance, but not for others, like The Roots for example. Or at least feel like they prefer Kanye. I personally would rather see The Roots over Kanye West myself.

I wish there could have been an "oh dear god NO" poll option.

I'm pretty sure the general consensus was that the roots would be awesome just not as headliners

I am deeply disturbed by the idea that i may have to give money to kanye in order to go to sasquatch. I vowed, long ago, that neither kanye west nor billy corgan, would ever touch a penny of mine. but sasquatch... alas.

That was my understanding.

Neither of those self-righteous douche-bags deserve any more of our attention/money than they've already received. I've had this misforchune of giving these things to both of them in the past. In my defense, the money has only been during a festival setting in each case, but it was definitely a guilty pleasure seeing the reformed Smashing Pumpkins. Or, at least there were 2 original members. Eerily, Billy hired another blonde female to play bass and another asian dude to play guitar. But really, Billy's ego took up most of the stage so it was hard to notice. I was happy when people booed his attempt to play a song off his then new album. I wish I could hate the guy more. It's just too bad that he wrote such amazing music.

Kanye on the other hand can eat shit and die. I saw him when he last played Sasquatch with little idea who he was, and thought his performance what alright. He has come a long way since then. I've since grown to like a number of the songs off his first few albums, but then a couple years ago he started doing the whole auto chune thing. It's around this time that I became aware that he had come down with a severe case of elephantiasis of the ego. His antics since then have only proven that he is a big overpayed baby, and his music has gone to shit. Granted, I have not listened to his latest album, but given everything I have learned about this clown I have zero desire to. The only reason I would hope he comes back to Sasquatch is so that I can throw something at him. Maybe a pair of shutter shades made of lead.

You know I started this thread mostly as a joke (hence the poll) but it's still shocking how much hate there is in here. Kanye's not gonna be there which is too bad because the man is one of the few mainstream artists that is pushing the boundaries these days. He's certainly an asshole but the man puts on an amazing show (sorry to everyone at bonnaroo though) and would be amazing at Sasquatch.

sidenote: I like 808's and heartbreaks way more than I should. I love that people compare it to tpain and all the other autochune stuff on the radio but in reality it's more like a weird bedroom pop album

I saw Smashing Pumpkins in like 1997 (Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness). Although the title of that album - and then 90% of the material on it - were the first indications of just how ridiculous Billy Corgan is, it was a pretty impressive show. I'd rather dive into the gorge than watch him at this point.

Regarding Kanye - he's an insane person. Remember how Kanye was just another rapper us white guys could feel ambivalent towards before his mom died? Kanye right now, what we see is a guy workin' it out. The autochune record was indulgent, but I reckon the circumstances were that Kanye had to uphold a record contract (and as one of the few people alive who can still move actual CDs, you can bet he didn't have much leeway on that) and he had to deal with the death of his mother at the same time, in public.

If you were Kanye, would you just lay down another Kanye record - business as usual? Or would you freak the fuck out, like anyone who lost their mother too soon would do? Yeah he acted out in a million other ways, but the work he's producing now is obviously the result of him owning his bad behavior and working through probably some shame for a reckless period in his life.

Pretty narrow-minded there, wolfhat. If your judgment of a performer's personality and shortcomings are criteria for enjoying his music, you're not going to be able to enjoy very much.
