Truth.

i disagree. if Kanye died tomorrow, i believe people would still remember most of his childish tantrums. would they honor his achievements? of course. but the memories of his immature and self-righteous ego would linger on forever.

People haven't forgotten nor will they ever forget the final 10 years of Michael Jackson's life, nor will they ever forget the sex allegations. It's just people prefer to remember the positive achievements, not the trainwreck his life became.

We want to remember the positives after someone/anyone dies, it's the right way to honor a life ---
but in the end, people never forget crazy.

People never forget crazy, but they're willing to act like they do. The sex allegations, they haven't been mentioned once anywhere in the media since Jackson died. Record sales dwindled for the last decade of his life because of them, but then skyrocketed after his death in spite of them. Money talks, and Money says it never happened.

My opinion would remain exactly the same if he died tomorrow.

I remember when Dimebag got shot every one of Pantera's albums broke back into the Billboard top 100. Crazy how that happens.

Money absolutely talks. So many people have banked off of and make an exploitation of his death. That movie, "This Is It" that came out sold an insane amount of tickets. Apparel sales were insane. Even this monstrosity is in the works:

His death has turned so many people into fans who never knew they fans to begin with.

There's enough people out there who despise Kanye enough that I would say he would fade away fairly quickly if he died because he sure as hell hasn't been around for decades to influence people old and young. Practically half of his fame that he has was from being egotistical and crazy and the fact that he used his mothers death as an excuse to act the way he did is just absurd. It's a part of life that EVERYONE goes through, not just him.

i don't think he'd fade away quickly at all. it's no secret around here that I completely dislike him, but even i can't undervalue his place within his genre... he's the biggest thing in hip hop (not named Jay-Z) right now.

i imagine that if he died tomorrow, Kanye's legacy would place him somewhere between Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G...

I will always remember MJ's death because it was on my 28th birthday and then I took free Adderol from a strange european man in a bar.

Then he took us to his "friend's house" to smoke a bowl, and it ended up being a vacant, partially remodeled home.

glad to see some life being brought back into this thread. I'm still sad I'm not going to Coachella to see Kanye but I'll probably catch him on whatever tour he does this summer. The reviews from the SXSW show he did sounded crazy (jay-z, marching band on all of the lights, Bon Iver, crazy long version of Runaway)

I'll always remember MJ's death because that day I had the worst hangover of my life. Endless rum & Cokes on a cruise ship + choppy waters the next morning = Pea crawling on his hands and knees back and forth between the bed and the toilet to puke for hours. Wasted a whole day doing that and watching CNN's coverage of his death on the TV in my room.
