I think the majority of people at Sasquatch on Sat who had a problem with Pavement simply did not understand who Pavement are and why they are famous.

That was about as amazing of a Pavement set you could ask for. It was the most authentic performance of 90's slacker guitar, alternative and grunge I've ever seen.

Those that complain about the mess ups, just don't get it. It's like complaining about seeing your favorite team with the sport's most legendary player win the championship in overtime, but being upset because they should never have gone to overtime to begin with - it's just not the point.

You still got to see a legend do what they do well

Seeing Bob Nastanovich scream out UNFAIR almost blew my fucking head clean off!!! Basically worth the price of a three day pass right then and there!

Agreed with Blacksmile totally. I've never really said this as I'm obviously all for subjective opinions, but all the bitching I've read about Pavement's set on Sunday has come from people who aren't familiar with their catalog/what they do and really, just "don't get it". Listen to those albums and tell me they're not unfuckwithable.

I think this explains why I enjoyed Pavements set so much: http://lineout.thestranger.com/lineout/a....em-and-pavement

That being said, I don't necessarily think this means everyone should enjoy it. It's somewhat of an acquired taste. I'm sure there's plenty of people who "get it" that still thought the set was awful. For instance, I "get" DJ's, but that doesn't necessarily mean I enjoy watching or listening to them (though, if I'm bored they can be fun to dance to).

I like Pavement to a reasonable degree but I didn't think they sounded great live. Please don't attack me because I don't care enough to argue the point, but I'm just sayin'.

I thought Pavement were excellent. The setlist was as if someone went up to me before the show and said "Hey, what songs do you want Pavement to play?" Amazing setlist, and I thought they sounded great. I mean, Pavement sounded like Pavement, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Also, they had technical difficulties early and Malkmus asked if he could played a few more. They gave him the thumbs up, so that's why they went over. Massive Attack still played a full set, and it didn't take any time away from them.
