So I'm not a big Tegan and Sara fan, so that takes them out of the mix for me, besides I've seen them play and haven't been overly impressed. I did see The XX back in November, right when they went from being a quartet to a trio, and despite having to revamp their playing style to suit the loss of one of their members, they still put on a hauntingly beautiful show. With that being said I would recommend them, but I too am somewhat hesitant as how the sound is going to mix with the venue. I was able to snag Weathervanes (Freelance Whales's album) late in 09' and have been in love with it ever since. Barring any odd weather, or sound difficulties their sound seems like it would fit amazingly well for their stage.
On a side note, for those who are not big in knowing how the music industry works, Artists make their money off of shows, and merch, record labels and companies make money off the music, I have a hard time paying as much for a show as I do an album, and have no hesitation to choose the show, and download the album. Grandmas don't know these things, just how to be crabby, and sometimes whiny punk-bitches, as the case seems to be with the above.

Dude's trying to put me in my place with a lecture on the economics of the record industry.
Ah geez, Internet Guy called me a whiny punk-bitch. I didn't want to have to do this, dontoro, but I'm calling your mom and telling her that you've been chugging bottles of robitussin and listening to watered-down Belle and Sebastian records in the basement after she falls asleep.
THIS BAND IS CALLED FREELANCE WHALES. You just know you're gonna still love `em in five years, long after the sting of being called a whiny-punk bitch is gone.

Robitussin? Well never been one for the robo-tripping, too cheap for me, and though Belle and Sebastian have a time and place, that was a few years ago...
As far as the name goes, well there's been worst names from the same caliber/better bands you may be familiar with some, TOOL!

Anyway.... Again, I would recommend Freelance especially since The XX conflict is too bad.

Not to get in this riviting rumble, but this is very true - remember those classics such as Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah, British Sea Power, Unicorns, The Thrills...
Also Belle and Sebastian are the shit!

I'm all for CYHSY and British Sea Power... Good to see someone toss down the Sea Power, for as big and amazing as I thought they were/are, I rarely hear anyone make reference to them... Thanks man, you just put a smile on my face.

Holy Shit...I just wanted to know what people thought about Freelance Whales!!! But UGH...Clap Your Hands was terrible! Live and on disc. British Sea Power on the other hand = AWESOME!

Just in case dontoro is still intellectually justifying himself:
So...here's short story for ya'll. When Man Man was partying with Those Darlins after the Nelsonville Music Festival in Ohio, things got a little wily (fireworks, running around in the woods, attempted horse riding) and Nikki Darlin from Those Darlins ended up breaking her arm pretty badly (and she really went for it, shattering it in two places). Unfortunately, it meant having to cancel their Australian tour and a lot of dates after that and bringing on the wrath of 3 girls from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Those Darlins, if you haven't heard 'em, are great little group of hell raisers with a sexy little drummer. http://thosedarlins.com/ is their website and they're trying to raise money to help with Nikki's medical bill (since you know hardly any musicians are insured, including the old Man Man). Donate a buck, donate 69 bucks, donate the cost of their album on ichunes and then illegally steal it from somewhere else. Anything and everything helps. These ladies want me dead.
Best,
Honus

I don't know what I'm "justifying," but thanks for the heads up, only had a few bucks but I feel good about donating a little something to a good cause. I know when I needed it people were there for me too, and playing the whole "Man Man" card help pull on those heartstrings.
On a side note our little battle would only be made better if you are Honus!
