Doesn't look like anyone's calling any bands "sell outs," so there's not much hating... As previously stated, it's the nerdy aspect of all of us coming out.

Oh man, I was totally kidding (hence the all caps and "L33T" speak), please do not take anything I say seriously. I think my post was channeling howardmoon in some way. Please continue. In fact, I find it interesting learning about who all is in what commercial.

You know you never can tell sometimes, that's why I hoped to keep it neutral in speech. I must admit I'm in Advertising, so this peaks my interest in a completely different way.

piques, adman,
and since you're in the biz maybe you could pitch Ween's 'Zoloft' to Pfizer
or 'The HIV Song' to Trojan.

Hahaha, though I won't bash on an artist for having their music in advertisements, as it's generally not their call but their record company, I've always been a strong advocate of using new and unheard music in commercials... essentially making something just for that ad... Yeah it's a little more work, but then again anything done right, will always be the case.

Not gonna lie, I drive an HHR, and I've been blasting that album since last October, and I've probably looked like I've epitomized that commercial more times than not.

Haha, sorry for the confusion, buddy. I can be a sarcastic asshole sometimes.

And yeah, I think good bands in commercials is a good thing. And with a lot of these bands, money they get from the commercials go to good causes, whether it be a charity (Arcade Fire's Wake Up at the Super Bowl) or helping the band grow and be able to do more things (where do you think of Montreal got the money for all the crazy things in their live show? that's right, Outback). I'm for it, as long as the band isn't greedy with it.

Yeah, that's the best way to look at it. For some reason it just rubs me the wrong way when people get all high and mighty.

And no worries, it was a toss-up really on how serious you were, likely at the time I was all to ready and had enough time for some forum flare-up so I was just making sure. haha

ween's "ocean man" is used in a volkswagon ad. don't see the connection really...

also pizza hut hired ween to do a commercial but then rejected the jingle (loosely called 'where the cheese at?') prompting ween to remix and re-title it as 'where the mutha fuckin' cheese at?'

lol.

you can't post something like that and NOT give a link to the original jingle or the remix. You are a tease.

But that IS hilarious.
