Saw The Tallest Man On Earth play last night in Montreal and it was an absolutely incredible show. I would definitely recommend you guys check him out if can-it's a great show even if you aren't familiar with him at all. It was just him and his guitar on stage with a mic, and he was so engaging-not to mention he sounded great. I really enjoyed what he played off the new album 'The Wild Hunt' which is also definitely worth checking out. Nurses opened up for him and they were great as well. I hadn't really heard much of their music before, but they had a lot of energy, so they were fun to watch. Anyways, the gist of that was go see The Tallest Man on Earth set if you can, it's gonna be amazing!

I went to Coachella and decided to see some of the bands that are playing Sasquatch since the schedule wasn't out yet and there were some I would see at both.
First I have to say that LCD Soundsystem absolutely killed it. They were FANTASTIC. I still think they should have headlined this year at Sasquatch for a) they are amazing live and b) there songs are wicked long. They are an absolute must see.
The Dirty Projectors were also pretty unreal. Man can those three girls sing their hearts out. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros delivered a spirited set as usual and Local Natives blew the crowd away. Passion Pit and MGMT were pretty straight forward from the albums but they were still quite good. Portugal.the Man were outstanding also.
Now for the not so good. She and Him were good for about 3-4 songs and just started to sound the same. I love Zooey and M. Ward on album but they completely fell short live. The XX were amazing music wise but had the unlucky spot of playing during the day, which looks like could happen at Sasquatch. It just seems like their music is made for a small club or brooding at night. Vampire Weekend were flat out boring.
And finally, one of the biggest flops of Coachella was Pavement. I like Pavement on record and all, so don't flame me for this opinion. They were unfortunate to play against part of Phoenix (who had one of the biggest crowds bar far this weekend) and Orbital. There was practically no one there, they all looked like they still hate each other and it just sucked.

andimac awesome stuff man thanks a TON. i read that there were so many hipsters waiting for girls that the P the Man crowd was enormous. glad they had a solid show they'll keep on converting fans until they take over the world. or something like that.
she and him.. yeah that happens. although it is worth watching just to see M Ward play guitar. he is so tasteful.
great news on lcd playing well. and local natives are getting so hyped it's crazy. good for them.
thanks for the reviews, i'll give you my quasi update this weekend. and tallest man if i go.

I also forgot to say that I walked by Deadmau5's set after Fever Ray's to see his new light show. It was pretty damn amazing!
I have to say that I was impressed with Coachella's sound and artists. The fact they could pull out favs like Fever Ray, Dead Weather, LCD and Atoms for Peace. One of my only complaints of the fest was the lack of security. Sasquatch doesn't have an over abundance, but they are visible at the gates between stages and are very helpful in distressing situations. Over the weekend of Coach, around 20 people fainted around me from this that and the other and there was no one to get help or anything. The worst is one of them had a long ass seizure and didn't get medical treatment for 40 minutes because there was no one to tell it too. I work in the medical field and this was my weekend to relax and listen to music, not doing medical stuff. Griping aside, the music was still amazing.

Were they fainting from the heat? How hot did it get down there?

It was a mixture of heat, dehydration and excessive drug use. It was like 80 degrees with packed in crowds at every stage. There was weed like everywhere which is pretty normal for a fest, but the guy that had a seizure had drank way to much, smoked weed, took acid, lsd, mushrooms, and snorted some coke within like an hour. There is partying and there is getting too shitted. One of my favorite moments from the weekend was watching Fever Ray, which was the best set of the whole weekend imo, and when the lights came on afterward seeing all the drugged out people crying on the sides of the tent because they had had such bad trips. Priceless

Jesus Christ that's insane!!!!! Too bad for that dude...probably spent the remainder of the weekend in the chillout tent! I'm jealous that you went. Did you by chance watch Faith No More or Atoms of Peace? How were they?

Both were fucking mind blowing. I'm from Idaho so I have only gone to Sasquatch and Monolith prior to this years Coachella, which has always been a goal of mine to go to Indio. FNM sounded so good and had Danny Devito dance across the stage for them. It was awesome. I was a huge fan of The Eraser to the point I listened to it too much, but have to say that Atoms for Peace make it sound 1000000000000x more amazing. I was shocked as to how good and how much that album actually needed Flea to play in it. My top sets were by Fever Ray, Dead Weather, LCD, Atoms for Peace, Yeasayer, Grizzly Bear, The Specials, Gossip, Dirty Projectors, Portugal. the Man (huge surprise), Florence and the Machine, FNM, Phoenix and Spoon. My absolute favorite moment of the fest was when the Specials were playing, there was a 6 year old on his dad's back with headphones on that was singing the lyrics along with the Specials. They showed him on the screen for a little bit and the crowd went absolutely bananas. Then he realized he was on the screen and the screams of joy were pretty awesome. There were so many good bands it was ridiculous.
