Just trying to throw some more topics to discuss and pass time. But I do find some bands really do know how to nail a festie crowd/set (as I am hearing wit the National). So Identify the Festival and date and talk about who we should be excited for or avoid based off of past Sasquatches and Festival set ONLY.

Too many so I will throw down Drive-By Truckers (and damn there is a thread about that!)
Drive-By Truckers Bonnaroo (2008,2009)
But ya, Patterson is such a fun loving dude. Can't wait to hear his thoughts on the Gorge. I've seen 'em in clubs too. but at a fest they seem to be so much more talkative and loving and drunk (went through a whole bottle of JD in 2008, and still performed great!) Something about the show they do outdoors makes you feel so damn good! Patterson is always great with the crowd. DO NOT MISS!

Seen Booka Shade at a lot of europe DJ fests, always had an eclectric drum kit with him. Seariously knows how to groove the crowd and really seems to be so appropriate for spactacular settings. Would be sweet if he joined Caribou!

For me the ones that really stick out are Massive Attack (Glastonbury) and Ween (Bonnaroo 2004), who you really need to actually experiance live to understand the love the fans have for these bands. Ween is sick and can really play anything for as long as they want to and the 'roo show was better than any club show I'd seen.
Dirty Projectors (Bonnaroo 09)-Dude has some insane guitar skills, which I would not have guessed after seeing them open for TV on the Radio at a club. Also in the open air the sheer power and harmony of their voices are damn near magical

Neon Indian was pretty sick live. And I saw Simian Mobile Disco at Lolla last year, fucking epic!

The fucking Hold Steady are without a doubt one of the BEST live bands going, festival or otherwise! Saw them at Lolla in 2007 and while I had only briefly heard their music prior to the show I was instantly converted by the end of their set. There will probably be some conflict during their set but do yourselves a favour and try not to miss them!!!
They also have a new album out in May so that will be a nice treat.

My problem with Hold Steady is that they lost Franz Nicolay, he and his mustache are great to watch.
I saw Minus the Bear on their last tour run for Planet of Ice, fun show. They're great live, if nothing conflicts, I'll watch em again.

I've seen Hold Steady both at Sasquatch a few years ago and then at the Blockparty the next year I think. Fucking incredible live set.
Minus the Bear I saw at Endfest when they had it in the fucking parking lot of Qwest Field - i n c r e d i b l e.
I've seen Long Winters at various places but they stick out at Sasquatch cuz I saw them right before the Arcade Fire. You wouldn't think it, but they were the perfect combination.
I've seen a good half the bands who're playing, as I look at the lineup more and more, so I guess if you have questions about their liveset, ask?

seen over a hundred bands. but i've only seen passion pit, from sas '08. It was a crowd pleaser. I saw nada surf at download '07, and they rocked the house. I was pleased to discover their music for the first time live, with a certain steadily creeping fungii in my stomach. I couldn't forget this performance if I wanted to, I just remember thinking, who the hell are these guys, and how have I never heard them before. I guess I also saw deadmau5, which was a little weird to say the least. Im not really into the whole "techno" scene or anything, but I guess it was kinda fun. My friends and I danced right to the front in the middle of the show, made some people pretty mad probably, and then exited through the front stage thing. I was only there for like half an hour, but it was crazy, and I left sweating profusely. Tegan and Sara were good, I was probably part of the 0.2% of male sasquatch goers to see them, and it made me feel a little less heterosexual, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. don't make fun of me. Band of horses, at bumbershoot '08, probabaly one of the top five shows of my LIFE. I shit you not, me and my three friends were the first four people in the stadium. In fact, we didn't know where the line was supposed to start for the show, so we asked around the security guards and they kept telling us it was a secret or something. Then finally, after bugging the shit out of one security guard, he basically put us FIRST in line. Then we led the thousands to the stadium, and picked our spots out front and center for b.o.h. and beck. Some twelve year old looking kid threw a large wrench into the crowd, and dissappeared. I saw the injured man, holding his head, looking pretty mad when he couldn't find who did it. The new pornographers were alright. I can dig it, I just never got into their music a whole lot. And I almost saw neon indian a few months ago, but my friend bailed on me, and I didn't end up going . well thats about it.

I have seen 75 since 2008, which is when I started keeping track. Before 2008 it wasn't worth keeping track.
