On the other hand, maybe you've heard of Bon Iver? Or Mos Def? Or this dude who calls himself Girl Talk?
Did anyone but me care about 65daysofstatic in 08? Who the hell is "Awesome"? Does Dyme Def have name recognition outside of the northwest?
On the other hand, you ever hear of Ghostland Observatory? I know I have. Maybe the Breeders? There was also this guy from another band that broke up a bunch of years ago, his name's Stephen Malkmus.
Do the Saturday Knights get name recognition outside of the northwest? What the hell is Total Experience Gospel Choir?
But I HAVE heard of the Beastie Boys and Grizzly Bear.
In conclusion, your "the main stage gets bigger bands than the Wookie stage" critique is just flatly wrong.
And if you came to the festival because you are attracted to the bands who play in the last four hours, and you can't find yourself enjoying anyone who plays between noon and seven, then you suck. |
|
So you were the only person that watched The Gaslight Anthem last year? Could have sworn I saw them....but you know best.
Please quit posting lies! If I'm not reading about how you think Ween sucks or how much better the Pixies or Modest Mouse would be in that spot then I'm reading about how you practically discovered some bands last year and they actually gave you your own personal show......."I swear, I was the only one there"....
Please shut your trap already you idiot! |
|
These are some of the most awkward uses of exclamation points I've seen on the internet since I swore off reading Youtube comments years ago.
As for The Gaslight Anthem, many people came out early and saw them, but very few of them came out early to see them. Maybe two other guys were getting excited as well.
In any event:
THE POINT ----> *

Does anyone know what time The Yeti Stage headliners usually end? I want to see Why? on Saturday but not at the risk of missing the main stage acts that I want to see the most, like BSS and The National. Also on Sunday I would love to check out Vetiver but the Wookie stage is loaded with acts that I want to see all day (at least until LCD/Pavement/Massive Attack take over the main stage).

Who the hell is Vince Mira? Who were the Heartless Bastards? I was the only person (this is a fact) who came out early to see The Gaslight Anthem last year.
Wow, I thought that a fact was just that, a fact. You stated that you were the only person that came out to see them, now you say that isn't so. What else are you going to lie about?
You continue to respond by attempting to cut me down and avoiding the actual response, you have done this since I have joined the board to everyone on here. You say that you hated the "bros" last year but you wanted Modest Mouse to headline, this would bring out just as many as last year. The way you talk tough and act like a monkey (as well as MM being your favorite band) I would have to say that you are a bro, thus you should stay away from the festival this year as you are not needed.

I don't even know what to do with this. It's like a weird political smear ad ("What else is InterstateEight not telling us about his policies?") mixed with near-incomprehensible playground taunts ("like a monkey"? What does that even mean?).
And I am going to be at this festival bro-ing down hard. I'll be the guy without a shirt on drunkenly hitting on your girlfriend and calling everyone a *****. GET STOKED.

I do wish that all 4 stages/tent went all hours of the day ala Coachella. This would allow them to fit more acts in and would allow for more variety. I mean I like Ween and all but it would be nice to see someone go against them on the wookie or yeti stage (I am not a dance tent kind of fella). This would also help flush out the main stage a little bit. Just a thought.

yeah dude maybe your right and my music taste just isn't up to your par, I try to make to to three or four fests a year though and sasquatch always seems to have by far the worst conflicts, that also could just be just my music taste (you were also comparing those who play the side stages late in the evening/night to those that open the main, thus proving my point). your response was pretty funny from my perspective though, based on my knowledge of you though this message board I'm just curious, have you ever threatened to hit your girlfriend because she she put on trendy/popular music when the two of you were in the car?

Hey, McFly. I thought I told you never to come in here.
Chill the fuck out. This is a message board about an amazing festival, not a pissing competition. Bigger acts play late at night, regardless of stage. Deal with it.

Have to remember that the Wookie has run late almost every year I've been at Squatch. I remember missing Ghostland for Flaming Lips when I should have been able to catch most of both. Occasionally it works in my favour though.

Here is an updated version with good dates, updated banner, and dance and comedy tent acts. I am Excel-challenged, so some of the dance acts are still over in the comedy column.
Really bummed about a potential BSS / Miike Snow conflict. Of course I will have to go with BSS, but I want to see Cult Logic live soooooo badly.

Last year on Monday (I think) Santigold went long and threw everything else off, which I meant I was able to catch both Girl Talk and Erykah Badu, who were scheduled to go on about 15 minutes apart but almost definitely did not.
