That's awesome... As I've mentioned anytime I've seen them they haven't even sang Mr. November, let alone closed with it, but also as I mentioned... that'd be awesome; although Slow Show as a closer... Amazing. I fell in love with the "29 Years," recording, that's what made me love The National, and hearing that chorus in Slow Show just strengthened the sentiment.

Here is the spreadsheet from before with updated set times. It needs some fine tuning (ahem, bradberad) as stated before I am an Excel n00b.
Thoughts:
- Pleased with Girls / The XX switching slots, freeing up an XX/LCD conflict.
- Bummed about the Public Enemy / Massive Attack conflict
- pleased with the BSS / Miike Snow conflict being less overlapping; I can catch a good chunk of Miike Snow after BSS.
- I think I'll flip a coin during Craig Robinson and Dr. Dog.

I have a bunch of conflicts, but the biggest ones I expected all along: - The National vs. The Hold Steady (National wins, but maybe I can run over to catch the end of the HS set) - Vampire Weekend vs. Nada Surf (Not the biggest fan of either, but want a decent spot for MMJ so I guess VW wins) - Midlake vs. Local Natives (Local Natives get the nod) - Tegan and Sara vs. The xx vs. Freelance Whales (Probably go with the xx, hoping it will be easier to catch the other two acts close to home) - Pavement vs. Dirty Projectors (Tough call, I might try to do half and half on this one, will be seeing pavement in montreal at osheaga) - Temper Trap vs. Phantogram (Not super into either band, but the Phantogram crowd will be a bit smaller - Passion Pit vs. Dr. Dog vs. Craig Robinson (Dr. Dog should be the easy choice, but man Darryl is pretty darn funny) - She & Him vs. The Mountain Goats vs. Japandroids (Probably the toughest choice for me, I've seen Japandriods once and they were really good, I think the Mountain Goats will win out though, Zooey though...damn) - Band of Horses vs. Camera Obscura (BoH will probably win out, although CO would be a great show too) - MGMT vs. New Pornographers (I saw a bit of MGMT live last year and it sucked, but I know everyone I'm with will want to see them, and maybe congratulations will be better. fuck it new pornographers win.)

Pavement vs Dirty Projectors if you're aghast, I'm seeing Pavement in august.
A little bummed I'm missing two artists (Girls and YACHT) for LCD but I've seen YACHT this year, heard bad about Girls live and have never seen LCD before. Just a relief that the xx and LCD don't conflict.
ryslice: I'm going to Osheaga too!

The people who told you Girls were bad live are liars and you need to stop listening to them. Still, LCD/Girls is not a tough decision.

Have seen about 20 acts from the lineup and would rank the Hold Steady a runaway No. 1 in terms of live show out of those 20.. Dr. Dog would be 2 and Langhorne Slim is 3.

Someone please lend a helping hand in making these decisions! (I know, some of these have probably been answered, but there are just too many pages to look through. Forgive me!)
SATURDAY ------------
The National vs. Hold Steady vs. Why? Don't really know any of these bands too well but heard they are all terrific live. I will probably end up walking around and seeing a couple songs from each, but would like to know who you think I should devote most of my time to.
OK Go vs. Patrick Watson vs. Patton Oswalt Probably the biggest FML for me. Not so much because of OK Go even though I did want to see them and would imagine them having a very fun set, but because of the Watson/Oswalt aka Oswaltson conflict. Just recently got into Patrick Watson and he was tops on my must-see at Sasquatch list, but Patton is one of my favourite comedians and I feel like I'd be a fool to miss him. How amazing is PAtrick Watson live?
SUNDAY ---------
Massive Attack vs. Public Enemy Worth missing the first half hour of Massive Attack for Public Enemy? Actually nevermind. Stupid question. I can obviously just decide while I'm at Public Enemy.
Pavement vs. Dirty Projectors Only mildly familiar with both. Who will put on a better show? I guess I'll have more oppertunities to see DP in the future so Pavement is probably the way to go, right?
MONDAY ----------
Dr. Dog vs. Craig Robinson Are Dr. Dog's shows memorable? Pretty big fan, but find with their style of music the live show could either be great energetic fun or just kind of boring. Anyone seen Craig Robinson stand-up? Funny?
DBT's vs. Bobcat Goldthwait Probably going to do Bobcat on this one. Was excited about the DBT's but Bobcat is sort of a legend, right? Well that might be taking it a bit far, but since discovering World's Greatest Dad (which if you haven't seen go watch it fucking now) I'm ecstatic about seeing him live.
Oh, P.S. I saw MGMT last summer and they bored the shit out of me, buuuuut I saw them at Coachella and they kinda blew me away. The new album sounds really good live and I think they have really tried to step up their live performances based on all the negative feedback. Some people will disagree I'm sure but I'd say you should definitely give them another chance.

here's a possible conflict solution for some of you: broken social scene has just announced dates in seattle and portland for october 15th and 16th. wasn't a conflict at all for me though since i was going to see them either way. now i'll just see them twice

The National vs. The Hold Steady -This one's not really too bad. I've seen both of them before (and they both kick ass), but I like The National way more overall.
Girls vs. LCD Soundsystem -The Girls album was by far one of my favorites from last year, so I'll be seeing them, then catching the tail end of YACHT.
Dirty Projectors vs. Pavement -Ugh . I was REALLY looking forward to both. I'll probably do 30 minutes of DP, then go to Pavement.
She & Him vs. Mountain Goats -I would really love to see She & Him, but Mountain Goats wins hands down. They are one of my favorite bands ever.
New Pornographers vs. Neon Indian -Not really a Pornographers fan, but I absolutely in LOVE with Neko Case, so I will probably catch a few songs at least.

HI. I have never seen the national so i'll be there for most of it. I saw the hold steady in a small bar in PA a month ago. They just got rid of the accordian/piano player franz for the new album which is a huge loss. But the new stuff sounded great and they have a good loud rocking festival sound. I would national for the first 45 (or all of it if it's awesome for you) and catch the 45 or 30 of the end of the hold steady. You don't need an hour of the hold steady to let it sink in.

Dirty Projectors are so talented it is unreal. My friend saw took my tickets when i couldn't go last year and was astonished. I wouldn't leave their set early.

My sister said Craig is awesome. HOWEVER. I have seen dr. dog and I might see them thursday again. They are awesome and I would not miss them. I have some friends that love rock rock (tool, police, van halen, ween, etc) and they all came with to see dr dog and loved their live show because they rocked and were only 'meh' on the albums. they take all their music to the next level playing live. Rounding out their tour at sasquatch will be incredible. Don't miss Dr. Dog. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Awesome news. I was scared. Last year at APW the best thing they had going was that everyone was dancing around me in the front which is more the crowd and less their music.

I'm going to step on some toes here by saying this, but the National is for National fans. If you've rarely listened to them, you'll probably think, "this guy has an awesome voice, that chick walking by is hot, what a great view, I can't wait for Deadmau5, I wish it wasn't raining, what is 25 squared, which band am I watching again?" Not to mention, the place will be packed with people madly in love, so you won't get up front unless you show up early.
The Hold Steady will be much more upbeat, but I think they are a bit overrated live, and as mentioned above, they no longer have Franz, who is fun live.
I've never seen Why?, so that might win.
As for the other conflicts, I always err on the side of music over comedy, so I'm no help. Public Enemy won't blow your mind, Massive Attack will, so leave Public Enemy early. And yes, Dr. Dog is great live. I just saw them, and want to see them again.

I like your summary of The National's show. I've never gotten into them, but a lot of my friends love them and I respect their musical taste. I even saw about half their gig at Outside Lands last year in San Fran and my thought process was much as you described.
I'm not huge into The Hold Steady either, or WHY? for that matter, so after Miike Snow I'll probably just got for a wander and see where I end up.
