I really, REALLY had to learn to just laugh at that song. I always cringed when it started but I can enjoy it for whatever the hell it's supposed to be now haha.

That song is my favorite on the album, and had the most crowd movement last time I saw them live. The guitars at the end of that song are pretty ripping.

That album is so odd. It is like the non sellout sellout album. They went different, but not different enough to draw in a new crowd. I love the album, but feel sorry for whomever starts with it, then decides they don't like the band.

Okinokinarinalokonos is definitely where to start.

Why oh why do I have to keep digging deeper into the lineup and find more bands to fall in love with?? These guys are going to be an absolute BLAST:

I decided to give Evil Urges another try the other day after not listening to it for a few months and I must say something about it finally clicked with me. I'm really enjoying that album now. But yea, Z and Okonokos are top-priorities for a new MMJ listener.

If you can pinpoint what clicked, please let me know. I start listening to the album, get to "peanut butter puddin' surprise," and shut it off as I shudder.

Best thing to start with is Z. Its the most accessible album IMHO. If you don't like it then forgetaboutit.

Does the version of One Big Holliday on the Sasquatch festival page music player do anything for you? If not, then MMJ is probably not for you. But if you like that, you will like Z and the live show on Okonokos. I know it sounds a little southern rockish but if you can get with that you will really enjoy their stuff.

Oh, I've listened to MMJ for some time now. Flew out to Denver two summers ago to see them play with the Black Keys at Red Rocks.

Evil Urges is just inaccessible to me.

I've only listened to ten bands I hadn't previously listened to, but here are my thoughts.

Tallest Man on Earth was extremely easy to get into. Same with the Low Anthem.

Miike Snow, I didn't care much for the first two listens, but I am now addicted. I guess an early confirmation really helped.

Vetiver, I enjoyed the music, but I'm not sure I will ever listen to it again. I gave it four listens, and it didn't stick.

Boys Noize is sick (trying to sound like a EDM kid). As for the hip hop, Wale is much better than that terrible production called the Knux last year. The song Pretty Girls is entirely too catchy.

If you also think Kid Cudi is a winner after the first listen, then I am.

Not arguing over your opinion, but Evil Urges is incredible. I've been a huge fan since At Dawn, and seen 'em multiple times from every tour since It Still moves. The Evil Urges tour is their best so far. perhaps if you're just getting into them Evil Urges might not do it for you? I don't, I love that album

At Dawn is probably my favorite MMJ album. You can't go wrong with Bermuda Highway followed by Honest Man.

At Dawn is also my favorite MMJ song. Yimmy played it as part of the Folksters last fall. There were about four of us going nuts when he played it. Speaking of the Folksters, Yames hair and beard was cut short. I've never seen a MMJ show without the Sammy Hagar mop.
