Really? I think it has a indie-rock feel for sure with an emphasis on PNW bands. Most bands on the line-up are guitar driven indie rock, and then they add in a few hip-hop acts, some electronic acts, and a little international flair. Just my 2cents. |

While I do see your point, looking at some of the past bands, even in recent years, for headliners I don't think they hold to such restrictions. The Beastie Boys, NIN, Jane's Addiction, The Cure, REM (well I guess REM could fall into your description a bit), the Flaming Lips. I could go either way on KoL or Ben Harper, but I think when it comes to headliners, they'll go for whatever suits them. While Soundgarden would certainly fit that description, being a PNW band, most of the other rumored headliners such as LCD Soundsystem and Gorillaz (not that any of us really think they will be) and Smashing Pumpkins do not.
(I still don't think they'll be there, but if Rise Against is playing I'll definitely come out for at least a day)

I doubt hardcore Nickelback will play but it's possible.

They're doing Bonnarroo as well, but a bunch of European festivals, with that in the middle, so at least three plane flights hauling all their gear around (from the states to Denmark, then from Germany to Tennessee, then Tennessee to Sweden) - given that they're doing a load of festivals, that right now they have about a 9 day gap in their schedule, and they haven't played the area since July..I guess it's possible, certainly more likely than before.
Apparently they're also doing Vive Latino in April, so another festival. If they don't do Sasquatch I really think Bumbershoot might be their destination over here.
If they did play, do yall see them headlining? |

If Rise Against plays, I will personally shit in Adam Zack's mouth.

Yeah, but LCD, Gorillaz, Smashing, REM, Flaming Lips, NIN, Janes, the Cure are all indie/alternative bands. I was just saying that Sasquatch is mainly an indie rock festival that gets alot of bands from the PNW (but not necessarily for headliners). Its not as jammy as a festival like Bonnaroo or Rothbury, even though there is some carry over. Allman Brothers or Widespread Panic are never going to headline Sasquatch. Its also not a pop festival. Katy Perry or Sheryl Crow aren't going to headline Sasquatch either.
Thats why I'm calling bullshit on the Dylan/Petty rumor. They probably aren't indie/alternative enough to be a Sasquatch headliner.

I know that opinions can't be wrong and all that, but this is just god damn fucking stupid.
THE NATIONAL: WUSSYS
FAMILY-FRIENDLY RADIO ROCK: PRAYIN' 4 IT |

here's a rumor: Ben Gibbard & Jay Farrar played a few shows in january. they said they would be keeping their schedules open for the summer. i think there is a small chance of them playing... OR! THE POSTAL SERVICE! you can't rule it out completely.... -they played sasquatch in '04 -death cab's not touring right now. -give up has sold a shitload over the past few years and TPS has played only a couple shows. -this would make sasquatch reeeeally stand out.

I'd rather they be a subheadliner but the days of Bjork and Beastie Boys headlining may be temporarily behind us with the economy where it is. |
|
I really wish my thesis on this didn't get deleted along with the rest of the pre-crisis Headliners thread...
In short, if the information from January is still true (album in early Summer, doing festivals first) then it is now guaranteed that the Arcade Fire headline Sasquatch this year on the grounds that the next suitable festivals are in August. |
|
This was noted in the old headliners thread, too, but the information from January is no longer true.
According to the band's booking agent (http://billions.com/thearcadefire), they're available August to September, not early Summer. I'm not getting my hopes up too much.
I'm also iffy on Phoenix. Few bands do every major American festival in one summer, and Phoenix is confirmed for Lolla, Bonnaroo, and Coachella already. This sucks, as Phoenix has a terrific live act.

Where did you hear Lolla? I didn't think their lineup was out yet?
And as for availability of the Arcade Fire, that may be because they have already booked something, or simply aren't taking major booking inquiries for those months and have already taken all the contracts they will.

Like how Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, and Animal Collective were EVERYWHERE last year? There's certain bands that play every festival because it covers a bulk of touring or helps end touring before they head back to the studio.

They're on top 40 radio and loved by Nickelback and Trapt fans. Not exactly the same.

The same can be said for the Beastie Boys, Kings of Leon, REM, Beck, and others who have headlined (and actually - has Rise Against ever made top 40 radio? I mean, isn't that defined by the top 40 played singles or something..I don't think they have), and several of the rumored headliners as well.

I don't understand the rumor behind Rise Against, other than they are playing Bonarroo (a much "wider range" festival) and they don't have scheduled shows for Sasquatch dates...

I don't think this one has been said for a while but The stokes are recording a new album and Neither Bonnaroo or Coachella has them.
I also read this today
Meanwhile earlier today, Julian Casablancas revealed The Strokes will play just two shows this summer. Casablancas told NME.COM that those will be the band's only shows before they complete the record, with a September release planned.
"We're doing two with The Strokes and that's it for the summer," he said, adding he would take his solo show on the road again instead. "I'll do other festivals alone, If they'll have me!"

I think it was mentioned somewhere on a previously deleted thread that the 2 festivals The Strokes are playing are 2 festivals that aren't Sasquatch.
But Julian solo would be nice.
