Bands most likely NOT playing at Sasquatch
« Thread Started on Jan 6, 2010, 1:03pm »

I compiled a list of bands playing Seattle in the near future which is usually a good indicator for who won't be at Sasqautch.

To start off with, there are a couple of bigger bands that are on hiatus and are not touring:
Radiohead
Animal Collective
TV On The Radio
Deerhunter

I know AC and TVOTR both played last year, but just wanted to throw that in.

As for bands that are playing Seattle from Jan to June:
U2
Muse
Wilco
Phoenix
Silversun Pickups*
Alice In Chains
The Cribs
St. Vincent*
Bassnectar
Vivian Girls
Wild Beasts
STS9
Magnetic Fields
Foreign Born
We Were Promised Jetpacks
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
A Place to Bury Strangers
The Clientele
Ted Leo
High Places
Bear in Heaven
The Ruby Suns
Toro y Moi
Rogue Wave
RJD2
Yeasayer
White Denim

And last but not least The Gossip are in Europe around Sasquatch so probably a no.

honestly I have noticed that if a band is playing in seattle they will not announce that they are playing sasquatch until after they perform there seattle show, as to keep up ticket sales. So its possible quite a few of those bands could be there.

Nice job on that list andimac. While maybe one or two of those might show up anyway (my money would be on phoenix, they are coming through this month which means a return 4 months later wouldn't be too bad), I think shamil is underestimating the strength of that list.

Thanks! I too hope some of these bands do play, especially Phoenix who killed at Monolith.

I could see Phoenix playing, but I think I remember hearing some one say they are going to be in Europe around may-june? I could be wrong. I think Yeasayer is a possibility as well, they ae really popular in the seattle area, and have always had a lot radio play on kexp. I can also see bassnectar maybe playing the dance tent.....he plays a lot of festivals....

I said you're underestimating the list because the booking for sasquatch is usually pretty simple. If they are playing Seattle within a month or two of Sasquatch, it's really unlikely they will be there. For example, Yeasayers is playing on April 20th and I will be incredibly surprised if they come back a month later for sasquatch

i can't understand why you'd list U2, they're not even close to being sasquatch material and would be entirely too expensive for a 20,000 person festival to snag. same with muse, they're the kind of band that only comes to WA once per tour (deck the hall ball doesn't count since it was a short set) and they already have a date in april. alice in chains and black rebel motorcycle club? are you insane?

Sasquatch does cater to outside of Seattle also. They're aware of the amount of people from Spokane, Idaho, Canada, and Montana that come in. They also know what plays those areas, Yeasayer is not. So I wouldn't throw them out the window.

but thatt still does not totally rule them out, I remember last year in late march, I think it was, ra ra riot played at numoes, and at the end of there set they said they would be at sasquatch, then the next day they announced it on the website.... I think anything is possible...I could die tomorrow!

Cool, quoting Perry Farrell, cause he's the master of geography and he books Sasquatch right? Reznor thanked the crowd, sasquatch, and The Gorge. I'll take the man who kicked drugs and seems to have a good grip on the world than this guy:

Also I'll take into account the people I know at Live Nation who even say they book for the Northwest, not just Seattle. Seattle gets pretty much all of these acts at some point individually. Compare Seattle/Portland/Vancouver with central/eastern WA, the rest of Canada that join in the fun, Montana, Idaho, eastern Oregon. I've been told the crowd is typically about 50/50 split for mjr nw metro citizens and the rest of the northwest.

In case you were wondering, yes, Live Nation does know where each and every person in attendance is from; and yes, they do care because that means they can make easier money.

All I did was put who was playing Seattle from now till June, which is like the kiss of death for Sasquatch, so don' t be a douche. I hate most those artists anyway, and the possibility of having a wretched bands like soundgarden and pearl jam made it seem like alice in chains would be right up the shit storm.

Spoon might be out now that they are playing two dates in Seattle in April.

Spoon 2010 Tour Dates:
04/09 - Seattle, WA @ Moore Theatre *^
04/10 - Seattle, WA @ Moore Theatre *^
04/11 - Vancouver, BC @ Orpheum Theatre *^

Also, Deerhunter is opening for them, so that might eliminate them as well.

That sucks, but I just got to see them about a month ago.
