Out of the four headliners I'm most excited for Macklemore by far. He's one of about three hip hop artists that I can tolerate these days. Should be a gigantic crowd for him, perhaps one of the largest ever at the main stage.

Wow, thanks for posting that article. There is a good chance that I'm the only one on here fascinated by that stuff but I love reading about the economics behind the industry. That article explains very clearly why I'm always talking about bands being on major labels and being played on the radio. Those things still matter immensely for some reason.

I don't believe in a derogatory aspect to "selling out" or commercialization, especially when it is the money that follows the music and not the other way around. Moby proved how well this could be done with Play. If an artist I like makes millions, I am happy for them. If they can afford a private jet as opposed to sleeping in the tour van, good for them. Granted, success does not make the music good, but neither does it make it bad. Good music is good music no matter the success behind it.

Haha dude do not use Moby as an example of selling out gracefully. Like, shit. Songs from Play were on commercials for everything from jewelry to Honey Nut Cheerios. If anyone wondered why Moby's popularity basically vanished after Play, it's because the world became so saturated with that Moby sound that people started to have Pavlovian responses to it.
Also: fuck selling out. Selling out is selling out is selling out. The best never do.
Let's go Outback toniiiight..

I have heard mack's songs on numerous commercials. Shit, half of The Heist was featured damn near every night on Monday Night Football last year.

I am blaming the early sell out this year on two things: Macklemore Scalpers I hate them both.

Scalpers have probably less than 2% of the tickets. Get rid of all of them and you might add another 2 hours before the sellout. They are a problem, but a minor one.

Full disclosure: I have a total man-crush on Ryan Lewis. And Macklemore is jocking my hairstyle from when I was 17.

Everyone should go to Macklemore...
Everyone....
So I can have a private Vampire Weekend show where they address me by name and let me sing backup vocals and all the cake for me...
