I'd argue for anyone that is on the fence for Death Grips to consider the amazing abilities of Zach Hill. He is legitimately one of the best drummers out there and I think he's still touring with just his bass and tom. They're chuned super low and just brings an extra primal feel to it all. I saw them in Seattle a few months back and it was one of the best shows of my life.
Last year We Are Augustines blew me away and I had never heard of them before.
Augustines were my second best set of 2012. Awesome that they got the sundown too.
Off the top of my head... though this changes everyday as I find out about new bands
Mumford & Sons (yeah that's right, I love it) The Lumineers Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros Dropkick Murphys Alt J Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Japandroids ReignWolf Ryan Bingham Arctic Monkeys

On October 1, the band self-released their sophomore effort via a website which they linked to from Twitter and Soundcloud, and various filesharing services including BitTorrent. This was apparently an effort to bypass the fact that their record label was unwilling to release the album until 2013. The band was dropped by Epic Records on November 1 due to the issues surrounding this incident, including the release of private emails on Facebook.
