Even though they have a new(ish) album out, Beachwood Sparks seriously came out of nowhere. I never expected to see those dudes live.

In no particular order:

1. Sigur Ros
2. Postal Service
3. Vampire Weekend
4. Grimes
5. Dropkick Murphys
6. Japandroids
7. Radical Face
8. Fang Island
9. Akron/Family
10. DIIV

This will probably change a lot once I start checking out the bands I don't know that well, Primus included.

Nick.

NICK.

Nick, you did a good thing last night so we will let this slide but seriously motherfucking Primus. Do you want to see the best bass player that is alive? Would you like to see an AMAZING guitar player and also drummer? Also radical 3D? I will tell you what I told Pea, listen to Green Naugahyde, it is their most recent album, and go from there.

I feel the need to point out that this is not an exaggeration by any means. I honestly don't know how a human person can do what he does on the bass.

Why is Devendra Banhart not on anyone's list! Has anyone seen him live; the guy could easily headline.

Uhh no. Have you heard his last two albums? I've seen him live three times and each was worst than the last. And I'm a lover of Rejoicing in the Hands and Nino Rojo.

To me, Devendra Banhart and Iron & Wine started in the same place (lo-fi bedroom folk) and went the same direction (full band production) with drastically different results (total bullshit vs. heavenly musics)

This list may be different after I've researched all of the acts I'm unfamiliar with. As of right now though:

1) Empire of the Sun
2) Primus
3) Sigur Ros
4) Toro Y Moi
5) Tame Impala
6) Vampire Weekend
7) Divine Fits
8) Menomena
9) Arctic Monkeys
10) Wild Belle

I saw Devendra Banhart several years back (06 I think?) with no prior knowledge of his music and thought him and his band put on a great show, but then I couldn't get into his actual albums at all - they seemed really weak, and I started to question just how much of a role drugs had played in my enjoyment of his set. Then I dated a girl who loved him, and one night, on our anniversary, I was driving us toward the ferry on Whidbey Island with "Seahorse" playing and a fucking deer popped up out of nowhere and SPRINTED HEAD ON TOWARD MY CAR. Collision followed, the deer died instantly, my car got totaled, and it remains the worst accident I've ever been in.

So fuck Devendra Banhart.

More people need to have Death Grips on their list. Let the nut jocking commence at the gorge!
