It's definitely an overused word. People just use it as an insult for anyone who have interests that go against the mainstream nowadays.

But this guy is the true kind of hipster. Someone who AVOIDS anything even remotely popular. Why the fuck would you brag about only seeing small bands at a music festival that you spent $300 on?

Goddamn people love to hate eh?
I said I preferred the smaller shows, never said I did not watch those headliner acts, its merely not what sells a lineup for me. I'll stay over at the banana shack or Yeti stage and watch the smaller acts, Im not gonna run my ass off to get a good spot watching Kanye or Prince.
I do still watch the headliners, for instance, Massive Attack back in 2010 did blow my mind. I don't pay $300 to go to a fest and see only 5 big acts, I go for the full days to get as many show as possible. Is it a bad thing have a varied taste in music?

Okay, okay. I'm not trying to harp. I was going to let it go until you said you wouldn't want a good spot for Prince. You cray in the bray, maine.

Sasquatch is not set up in a way that you have to run to get a good spot for a headliner. The main stage is huge and there is tons of room. Even down in the pit if you are along the back there is room.

Nobody said that they only watch the headliners but of course we care who they are. Additionally, Kanye and Prince have never been there but you would be a fool to miss them.

It seems like you see a band more for your own reputation than because you want to see them.

Actually, I don't even think hipsters would miss a chance to see Prince. What's with this guy?

Im just saying I wont miss a smaller act that I wouldn't usually get a chance to see, to see Kanye. If I wanted to see Kanye I would pay $100 to see him when he was in town. But if there was nothing else on then yes I would see his show.
And I am only defending the reputation you're giving me for liking music that aother people have not heard of. And I also never said that I don't listen to mainstream music. I stated that I don't listen to song because it is mainstream, I listen to it because I like it. If someone shows me a song and I like it, I'll listen to it, I'm not going pretend I like it when I don't, just because everyone says it's super awesome.
Does it make me a hipster to like the music I enjoy listening to?

I'd continue my dog joke thing by calling him a golden retriever or something, but at this point he seems more like an incredibly spiteful cat.

No, I would watch Prince. But I would see the end/beginning of Princes set, if someone else was playing at the same time. Like how I missed half of Tenacious D last year to see SBTRKT, which was a bad choice, but there are obviously going to be crossovers, and choices need to be made.

At least you realize that you made a bad choice.

ALRIGHT. You're good.

For now.

Kanye's shows are abysmal. Just put his CDs in and push play. At least Jay Z had a live band to give some sort of character to his performance. Plus all these bands with lights have uninteresting music so they have to cover it with lights, i.e. The Killers, Muse, The Black Keys, etc. I mean our headliners from 2012 were all subs at other festivals, but I enjoyed having such a strong undercard that it didn't matter. Plus I'd rather see Jack White or Massive Attack headline so they have longer to play than watch Kings of Leon or something unremarkable.

What? Jack White and Beck were headlining loads of festivals.
