 Dance Tent
« Thread Started on Feb 11, 2009, 12:35am »

Any thoughts on how many artists might be playing "the tent"? Seeing as its going to share the comedy tent and last year the comedy tent last show was at 6:30? Maybe 3 DJ's/Artists playing 45 minute sets. I wouldn't see them playing at the same time as headliners, but who knows?
Also as stated many times before, Said tent will need to be way bigger than last year. There were always ludacris lineups to get in. Capacity on the tent last year anyone?

I like festival whore Girltalk to be there now, and I don't know why anyone would dislike him. Does an electronic dance tent open the possibility that other electronic acts might play on the Wookie or main stage. I could see Girltalk playing on the Wookie rather than in a small tent. That tent would have to hold 1,500, which from what I heard of last year, wouldn't be possible. And how much would it suck to have to wait in line to get into said tent? One of the cool things about Sasquatch is that you can easily move from one stage to the next without missing much music.

This is just a guess, but I would think the tent will be pretty damn big. I'd imagine if they add the dance aspect to it, they will get some decent acts. If those acts are performing in the later afternoon, and it's not big enough to hold a lot of people, there could be some drunken rage. So, my guess is big tent, or one of the Yeti or Wookie side-stages is altered into the Comedy/Dance tent (which they hopefully wouldn't do). Just for fun, my hopes/guesses for the tent are Crystal Castles, Passion Pit, Boys Noize, Diplo, Flosstradamus, Friendly Fires, YACHT, Armand Van Helden, and Digitalism (Half of these are probably totally unrealistic). I Dr. Garbanzoure with the comedy section being the first half of the day, they will have 3 or 4 artists in the tent afterwards. Hopefully if Girl Talk is there, he will play the mainstage during the daytime. He's a lot of fun live.

I think it has to be larger this year, with the kind of cash and sponsors this fest has, I really cant see them skimping on this rather exciting addition, which I assume they have big plans for considering it was announced with the dates, and not the lineup.

LCD, Digitalism, Bassnectar, Simian Moble, Battles, Lotus, Particle, Shpongle, Pnuma trio, Girl Talk, Holy Fuck, Boombox, Eoto, Pretty Lights... A man can dream cant he... if Sasquatch pulls anyone of these I be very very happy

I am still kicking myself in the face for missing Battles last year! Would love to see them.

Battles wouldn't play in a dance tent. If you do get a chance to see them, don't miss it. They are one of my top 15-20 bands on the "can't miss live" scale.

I would love to see Cut Copy, and second the mention of Crystal Castles, who sound like they would be ridiculously fun live. The problem is the conflicts, there is usually a band I am really stoked on playing by the time the tent would start pumping out the beats.

I wouldn't be too surprised if the tent was strictly lesser known DJs rather than well know electronic acts. Even less than outstanding electronic music will attract a crowd depending on who is(n't) playing on the other stages.

Here is a funny thought. How packed would the tent be if a rain storm hit?

If a rain storm hit I would be front and center at a stage while everybody else went to the tent :D

The dance tent is a good idea. But at pemberton last year i thought it was terrible, they had big conflicts with main stage, and it took like 45mins-hour just to get in. I think pembertons tent capacity was 1500 but im not sure, all i know is that it was ridiculous. If sasquatch does it they oughta doit right. Plus I'd love to see girl talk whether its in a tent , stage, or in the damn campground.

im pretty sure there was 40,000 at pemberton, dont quote me on it though. I 'm not saying not to have a dance tent i think its a good idea for many reasons , all im saying is that if your going to have it make sure you do it right.

Yeah Pemberton was somewhere between 40-45K people. I think the dance tent was more than 1500, but it was still WAY too small of a capacity. The tent itself was huge, however when at capacity the tent was still only about 1/3 full. Made no sense.

It definitely should have been larger, or an open tent. I missed all of the DJs because I was just not willing to sacrifice a great band on stage to stand in line. Still pissed I missed Deadmau5.

Dance tent people. Battles, while awesome, have no business in a dance tent.

I'm very curious to see who they book for this thing. DJs? Dancy acts like The Presets or The Faint? We shall see on Tuesday.
