Top 10 things gleaned from the first 24 hours of the Top 10 thread

1. People like making lists.

2. A surprising number of folks want the D. Did not think The D would have this type of pull.

3. Weenie has commitment issues (her words not mine).

4. Active Child needs more parachutes, is great or awful live either last spring or when opening for M83.

5. Donald Glover > Childish Gambino unless you're Geno.

6. Ithaca can't follow rules. Even the arbitrary ones. However, Ithaca would second danl46's proposed amendment to list threads in reverse sequential order.

7. Best way to get someone to venture out and make their first post is to ask for a list. See #1: People like making lists.

8. Pea is all in on WG. Pea is not all in on beating dead horses (gleaned from another thread).

9. NW Hip-Hop is dead and the 10 or so artists scheduled to appear on the Maine Stage don't even know it.

10. Switch will not dance alone and grown men will cry.

11. Chud pays too much attention

No. 6 is totally true though, they were coming out of the woodwork in the "Lineup Prediction Competition" thread earlier

Will I eventually aggregate these? P'haps. 'tis something I am known to do. Anyway, here's mine:

1. Bon Iver
2. The Tenacious "D"
3. Yellow Ostrich
4. Beck
5. The Joy Formidable*
6. fun.
7. Unknown Mortal Orchestra
8. Hey Marseilles
9. Ted Leo
10. Child's-man Gambino*

From beyond the cutoff: Grouplove, Of Monsters And Men, Mogwai, St. Vincent*, Pickwick, Alabama Shakes, Jack White I guess

*: I have seen this band before. Their ranking could otherwise have been higher.

After spending the last couple of weeks holed up in the basement consuming far too much vodka and sandwiches, I have completed my research on all of the bands playing this year.

This list will most likely change 5,6 or 10 times before May but here goes...

1. I Break Horses
2. Bon Iver
3. Silversun Pickups
4. Nero
5. Felix Cartal
6. Metric
7. John Reilly & Friends
8. Fun.
9. Grouplove
10. LA Riots

The more I listen, the more I think this year will be better than the last.

And yes, I like making lists.

John Reilly may or may not be high up on the list because I just watched Walk Hard.
