Explosions in the Sky are making a comeback in a big way. They were phenomenal at Coachella.
I love Shearwater. I am bummed that I will probably have to miss them but initially I was really excited they were on the lineup.
For what? There's nothing that incredible going on simultaneously...is there?
Feist is where I'll probably be. I would like to check out Shabazz Palaces sometime because I've heard from people I trust that their live show is awesome and that you don't get the full effect of what they're doing until you see them live, but I wouldn't pick them over Feist or Shearwater. It'll be a game time decision...I guess it will just depend what type of music I'm feeling like hearing at the moment.
Felix Cartal is terrible, so at least there's that. It's not even the good kind of mindless EDM, it's just plain terrible. Want proof? Listen to the track he made with Death From Above 1979's Sebastian Grainger. In fact, I'll even link you to it:

Care to elabroate? What is it about his production techniques that you like? What about his sets? Do you think his track selection and mixing are good? I'm really asking because if there is something I've missed I'd like to know!

If you like it because it's danceable, that's totally fine! I'm not trying to tell you that you're stupid or anything, I just wanted to know your opinion. I personally just don't like it and don't get it.
I don't understand why it's okay to be judgmental of rock/indie/pop/folk/everything else but it's not okay to be judgmental of EDM, or why being critical of EDM is considered not cool. Is it because EDM is just "for fun"? I know some of you guys just want to take pills, drink, and get down. That's fine with me! There's no issue here with that. But if that's the case, just say you want to hear a 4/4 beat with some bass drops and get fucked up! Own it!

I do actually think that Felix Cartal is good mainstream club-ready EDM. Then there is bad mainstream club-ready EDM that I don't like.
In general, I go for headier EDM, stuff that's a little more challenging and not designed to pump fists at, but I really like most of Felix Cartal's stuff I've heard.
Now I know almost nothing about the music, particularly compared to most people here, and I can tell you that for the most part it's totally okay to hate on any EDM around here. In fact you can hate on Felix Cartal and that's fine too. I was just saying, I like that shit.

Hehe, okay. I can get behind that. Thanks. I agree that it's definitely "mainstream" and "club-ready", good descriptors. I have some really guilty pleasures in EDM too, though for the most part I'm not a big fan of the large genre of music EDM encompasses.
I know Felix Cartal is from Vancouver and from what I've heard the Canadians go apeshit for their own at Sasquatch, so I'm imagining his set will be wild either way. Have fun!

Oh is he, I didn't even know that. I'm not Canadian so that's not the connection, but I'm glad to know there will be some Canadians at his set as well as myself.

I see you're from the East Bay, I'm originally from the bay as well. I think FC is from Vancouver so if everything I hear about the Canadians at Sasquatch is true you'll be in for a good time.
