I'd like to have the chair as well. It hasn't been found because in the scheme of things Jack White is small potatoes, and no one knows or cares enough to rip apart a piece of furniture.

Either that or he never even made them in the first place and he just wants to seem badass. Even if someone did find one theres a pretty good chance it would be in a million little pieces by now.

It's still a cool story though.

Jack White's concert was streamed on Youtube yesterday. The set was pretty much the same variation of what he's been playing, though he added Carolina Drama. I've never been a huge fan of that song on record, but live it works well and seeing him add it bodes well for Sasquatch. I was beginning to think there may be no surprises in store for us, but it looks like Jack White may still have some tricks up his sleeve. Hopefully we get a few unique songs not yet played on tour.

Jack White: Unstaged

The whole thing was a lot of fun. I really like the tweaks and countrified spin he's put on some of his older stuff with the 'girl band'. The whole 'girl band' and 'guy band' thing is something that I feel I should hate, but I actually thought it was pretty cool and made for a great 2 set show.

I've seen the White Stripes 3 times (2003, 2004, and 2007) and the Raconteurs twice. I've enjoyed the hell out of all of those shows but I think I liked the Unstaged show the best of all of them (even though I wasn't actually there). The musicians were pretty solid (especially the drummers, especially especially the guy drummer) and I thoroughly enjoyed the dramatics of the whole show. The costumes, the facial expression 'acting' bands both did, as well as the 'theatrical' chemistry they show on stage all worked really well.

Whenever I initially listen to new Jack White stuff I do a lot of head shaking and wonder why he would ever sing "a lyric like that" or why he needs to have so many affecting vocal lines or "how many songs does he need to sing about stuff needing to be badass"". Yet, everytime I see him live all that shit (and I mean all that shit) clicks so well and is totally fucking awesome. Even a chune like "Cuts like a Buffalo", which I can't say I was ever into on record, was dynamite live with the 'guy band'. Jack's voice has also never sounded better.

I can't wait to get rocked at Sasquatch.

Holy shit I've been without internet for the last 4 days and just watched this. I definitely prefer the guy band's energy better than the girl band. The sound for this was perfect, hope they can match it close at the gorge. Jacks voice often gets kinda of lost behind the guitar, but it was right on point for this one. I really hope we see something like this at Sasquatch.

I'm always a sucker for a Hank cover as well.

EDIT: Good thing I watched it when I did, looks like they've taken the video with entire show down.

Regarding the girl band/guy band, I read that they aren't allowed to rehearse together or watch each other play the songs, so that they have a totally different vibe, and that they don't know who will play on any given night until that morning. And they have to wear all blue. This is all from the NYT piece on Jack White.

Jack White sounds like a pretty strict band leader. And what's with the all blue? Didn't he have some fetish about red black and white? Or is that just reserved for the Whitestripes?

They don't have to wear all blue, because they weren't wearing all blue in the 'unstaged' performance. You guys should watch the pre-show videos for the 'unstaged' thing, they shed quite a lot of light on the whole thing, and on Mr.White.

I guess be prepared for this?

JACK WHITE ATTEMPTS NEW WORLD RECORD

Jack White has again decided to take on the tremendous challenge of making it into the Guinness Book of World Records.

During the rest of the performances on his current tour supporting his new album "Blunderbuss" (which incidentally is currently in the running for the world record of "the fastest named album in history" *pending), Jack White will every night on stage attempt to break the world record for most metaphors in a single concert.

The attempt may prove very exhausting and at times even dangerous, but the results could prove to be glorious and possibly even vainglorious. White and Third Man Records are certain that the extremely scientific and intricate analysis of the metaphors that occur will be examined in accordance with Guinness' usually very thorough methods probably, or at the very least if somebody answers the phone at the pub.

Third Man Records encourages all attendees of said concerts to please not interfere or interject with any metaphors that they witness occur during the show as to not disqualify or worse yet, trivialize the metaphor in question. In addition all concert attendees are encouraged to entice as many metaphors to occur during the show that they possibly can as long as they don't endanger themselves or Mr. White.

Looks like he's started playing "Black Math" on the new leg of his tour. Nice, I've always liked that one.
