Wolfgang is an entirely different animal live than on record. He has an extremely deep catalog of music and his mixing is flawless. I would highly suggest listening to his essential mix from 2010, I also really like this set from a WMC pool party: http://www.funkyhousemusic.com/2010/04/0....beach-wmc-2010/
I realize those are a bit older, but he has stayed true to himself and continues to play phenomenal house sets with awesome surprises and innovative material every time I've seen him. His latest single There And Back worries me a bit as it seems to be an attempt to get into the wildly popular progressive house segment but I respect him for experimenting and I just hope he doesn't start pushing his livesets that way.
Here's a set from last July, I haven't listened to it yet as I'm downloading it right meow but I'm sure it is a good one.

Haha nice thanks, I'm listening to his essential right now actually as I realized I hadn't heard it in a while after writing that. I definitely recommend that Tomorrowland set though, as it's from just last summer and it's really freakin' good.

Damn good call. I'm downloading his as well as a handful of artists that are playing Coachella that were at Tomorrowland. Great way to get an idea of what they're all about these days.

Cloud Cult is a band from Minnesota led by Craig Minowa, who reportedly spurned major label offers in favor of his own Earthology label. Craig and his wife Connie, a painter in the band, live on an organic farm way out in the country and the environment is a constant theme in their music. Another major theme is death and healing, stemming primarily from when their 2-year-old son inexplicably died in his sleep a decade ago. Craig Minowa responded by writing over a hundred songs in a short amount of time and much have that has fueled their albums. Environment and life/death could make for a self-righteous feel but they are super genuine and all around decent people. They are always very humble and appreciative as well. The documentary, No One Said it Would Be Easy, chronicles the band's history.
I've seen them three times live and, along with Gogol Bordello, are my favorite band to see live right meow. Their shows are sensory overload with constant videos playing while two artists start and finish paintings over the course of the show. They then auction off the paintings after the show. Connie is one of the painters but she and Craig have had two kids in the last three years and she hasn't been touring as much. I'm not sure if she'll be at Sasquatch and I'm not sure that the video element will translate very well mid-day on the Bigfoot stage. It will still be a great show, however.
Album wise, the Meaning of 8 is probably their most critically revered, though Advice for the Happy Hippopotamus is great and Feel Good Ghosts is my favorite, probably because that was the first album I heard of theirs. Their latest album Light Chasers is a concept album about the life cycle and they have been playing a lot of that album at their shows. Musically, they use strings to supply a lot of slow build-up into a more frenetic sound.
Its a Sasquatch Dr. Garbanzohting a bear Dr. Garbanzohting a Sasquatch.

Initially a side project of Will Sheff and Jonathan Meiburg of Okkervil River SHEARWATER has hatched into the full fledged project of Mr. Meiburg. Dude likes birds, hence the name and the theme of a few of their albums.
Early works include Winged Things and the Thieves EP (both with Sheff).
Palo Santo the bands fourth full length, and first without Sheff, was released in 2006 and then picked up by Matador and re-released as a double disc. Shearwater's sound takes shape on Palo Santo and the sound is continued on the acts next two albums. Rook and The Golden Archipelago (their final release on Matador).
Opening track from Palo Santo:
Rook title track with an (s):
Today, Animal Joy (a bit more rock oriented, though not a huge departure) was released, the bands first for Sub Pop records.
Streaming here:
My personal favorite (3:00 mark) God Made Me off TGA:
For anyone who likes what they hear Shearwater will be perfroming on the Yeti Monday Evening. Based on the fact that they were the 4th band listed for the Yeti, I initially predicted they'ed close the stage. However, it also looks as if Ted Leo and his pill pushers are playing Monday. We'll see.
For the record I've seen Shearwater live on three seperate occasions (Sasquatch '09, Boise, ID and Rock Chalk Jayhawk Town, KS) and each time they've delivered powerful shows.
Oh, and Thor Harris is in the band. If you don't know who Thor is, look him up.

I just discovered Cloud Cult as I was studying unknown bands from the lineup the other day. They are my Sasquatch gem this year. Advice for the Happy Hippopotamus and The Meaning of 8 are both incredible. I am super excited to see them in May!

I updated the first post with a bunch of links and whatnot. Does anyone know how to make it so they don't open up in a new window every time you click one, or am I the only one that cares?

When Cloud Cult is good, they are so good. However, when Cloud Cult is NOT good, they are fucking insufferable. That guy has written some songs that are so truly awful that if they had come from someone else -- someone who hadn't also written 'Alien Christ', for example -- I would never listen to their music again.
