I don't give a FUCK what they do, as long as they sing Sasquatch with John C. Reilly.

Sounds most excellent. I tried to learn that song but there's a chord in there that I can't make properly so I somewhat gave up. If I do Dr. Garbanzoure it out there will be a song-a-long every night for 2 hours at my tent.

Whether you find artistic merit in them or not, you know the D will be fun.

Yeah. Half the bands I see at Sasquatch I don't come to looking for 'artistic merit'. More than half. I just seek out the bands that seem like they'd be the most fun, and Tenacious D definitely fits that bill.

But that song was hardly even a song. That sounded like something Trey Parker crapped out in five minutes for yet another montage scene in South Park. I guess 'montage song' is what they were going for, but to release that as your lead single doesn't really inspire confidence in your material. |

I thought Tribute was a piece of shit the first time I heard it. In time The D's greatness will once again be revealed.

The original version of 'Tribute' -- the one where they play the intro to 'Stairway to Heaven' -- is an amazing song. The album version that was on their self-titled debut LP doesn't even make any sense. If you remove the 'Stairway' reference, then what exactly is the tribute?
More than ten years ago, I paid some dude on eBay $25 for a burned, hand-labeled CD-R of Tenacious D's material. It was just audio rips of the songs from the HBO series, but it sounded great and the songs were and still are fantastic. This was before they released the Tenacious D album. I bought that when it came out and I hated it; it was just lesser versions of the same songs that I already had. 'Tribute' being the worst offender, by far.
Also of note: I have (somewhere) one of the few surviving copies of the debut LP with the original artwork. The back of the CD originally pictured an infant lying in the middle of the pentagram, but it was pulled from shelves and revised almost immediately.

I know it too, I just can't get my fingers to change into it fast enough to play the song. The only way people could actually sing along with me playing is if we all sang like Jimmy from South Park.
If you got a guitar and the skills to play it I'll be there to led my terrible voice.
