That way we can all find the information we need without having to wade through pages of off-topic chatter. Sound fair? |

Beware the fall from atop your high horse.
I thought message boards were for discussion it appears the people on here take it as a personal insult if someone comments or chats about anything other than the topic. The way I read your statement this thread should be one post long and that would be the official Band listing for the show. In which case there would be no need for a message board just wait for the venue to announce who is playing and move on. Avoid all conversation because that would be a wast of time, ignore all speculation because it sucks to have fun.
I signed in what 2 days ago and I am so unimpressed with the people on here I will be removing myself from the board and moving on, hopefully to find people who enjoy open conversation.
Have fun at the show I hope security confuses you for a criminal and throws you out ten minutes after you arrive.

The suggestions I made are not unreasonable; they are pretty common message board "rules". Besides, I'm not a mod, so feel free to ignore me if you want.
Last year this place was dead, and I think it's great that people are actually signing in and discussing the 2009 fest. I think it bodes well for the vitality of the Sasquatch community.
However, it's nice to be able to check the board and easily find the information you need. If you want to speculate about the lineup, it's nice to have a place to do that. If you want to find out about acts that are confirmed, it's nice to have a place to do that. If you want to talk about camping conditions, it's nice to have a place to do that. But it doesn't help anyone if all that information is lumped into one big thread.

don't go, that's not cool , I don’t think Camping or loose leads such as “my buddy's friend heard from his mechanic's veterinarian's girlfriend's cousin that Gwar is headlining" have ever once been brought up , so not sure where that is headed , my mechanic listens to country ?. Gwar rules !

So back to business, here is my first lead that has come true for the ( NW ) Coldplay , so yes maybe not SQ …my source only knows if the bands that WILL be in the NW during this SQ09 period of time or very close , Keane and Snow Patrol will likely drop next..

As per http://www.brooklynvegan.com/ Jan-12-09 Keane was rumored to do Coachella 2009 , they will not ( as you can now see ) as they will be a Sasquatch 2009 . They will be stateside after the 13th of this month and then home again by the end of September. They will hit award shows and stateside festivals during this window of time. So serious …

Avacadolady makes excellent points. I got a message about needing to "ease up" and chill out on some of these posters.
So, board admin: A "Confirmations" thread full of OBVIOUSLY FALSE RUMORS posted by legitimate trolls is no problem, but if I take issue with it, I need a reprimand. Have I summarized things correctly?

I have updated the last post of the first page of this thread. If anyone is new to this thread, and would like to read about Sasquatch 09 confirmations, save yourself some time, and read page 1.

May 25th-Somewhere Late at Night-Late City, Washington.
sounds pretty legit to me!

Basically, everything is ok, save for the personal attacks on people's music taste. Its one thing to say "this seems like bullshit" - in the rumour stage, I don't know if one poster's "I heard from so and so that these bands are playing, but I can't back it up" is bullshit any more than you do. Until the lineup is set, it is all speculation.
My cryptic/exhausted post last night was related to the personal mud slinging back and forth in this thread (and others) after I had just posted something the day before for people to try and be more civil.
If you want to take this public Interstateeight, no, you don't have it correctly. I asked you to ease up because you were being outwardly hostile/rude to people, and I had numerous complaints about it. Specifically, your posts along the lines of "ha, you like THAT band? That band is so shitty and you are an idiot for liking said band" were rubbing a bunch of people (including me) the wrong way, and so I asked you to ease up on people. Taste is subjective; music taste doubly so. You don't get to be superior to people who like, in your opinion, terrible music. I think lots of music is terrible, but that is my business.

Lets keep this thread for official confirmations only please from here on out. If you want to discuss the philosophy of Internet civility, I'm happy to discuss that further, but pm me please. If you don't know the difference between "I don't like ____" vs. "You like _____? You are an idiot", then I can't help you.
The suggestion to start a "Speculations thread" is a good one that I will be starting right now. This includes the "I have on good authority" stuff. Everything that is not an official confirmation with a link to verify will be removed/moved or whatnot.
.... Actually, the existing 2009 lineup thread is basically that anyways. Post the rumours there. Confirmations here. Dustin's Sasquatch blog is great way to also keep track of "good rumours / confirmed"
