i'm hoping they add some bands to Sunday and Monday, it seems like they stacked the hell out of Saturday and left the other days thin on good middle of the lineup stuff. that's just my opinion though. i wish they'd put out the times for each band, i'm crossing my fingers hoping sun kil moon isn't going to conflict with something good on the main stage (like the decemberists).
and something i remembered about last year: the headliners at the two smaller stages finished their sets right around the time when the headliners at the main stage came on. hopefully there will be something fun going on Monday around that time, since there's no way i'll stick around for erykah badu and ben harper.

Haha, this is true. I'm a poor college student though. So, I decided the combination of Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver, Passion Pit, M83, and TV On The Radio a few hours away would be better than going all the way to Indio to see Sir Paul, My Bloody Valentine, Crystal Castles, Mastodon, and a few other bands that interest me. It's a tough call, but I can never pass up a trip to the Gorge. |
|
That is a nice want list. I would back every band you mentioned (except TV on the Radio). I wish there was someone like Mastodon at Sasquatch. Bonnaroo throws in a heavy metal act or two each year. Maybe Monotonix will make up for the void.

Luckily, you both will be able to watch Explosions in the Sky on the Wookie instead of the first half of Ben Harper.

I think I can dig on a bit of Viva Voce. Sold, I would check them out without a conflict.
Do you enjoy Blitzen Trapper live? The only time I would call memorable is when they introduced me to Fleet Foxes. I like Blitzen Trapper's music, but as for the live show, I'd rather see Bob Dylan (and that is sarcasm based on who they seem to pretend to be live).

Viva Voce is AWESOME live. They opened for The Shins a while back at the Crystal and I have been in love ever since. Great CD too!!

I reviewed a Blitzen Trapper show back in August and they were playing material off of Furr for the very first time. I think their music is great, but if I'm being honest, the show was a little rough to say the least. Hopefully they've got the new material down a little better by now. Barring conflicts I'd love to see them again, but I doubt that's gonna happen.

Blitzen Trapper has been a bit hit or miss for me live. First time i saw them i really enjoyed em. Next time they didn't seem as cohesive of a group...just didn't dig it. I feel ya on Dylan immitations haha but i still enjoy the easy going indie/folk shows from time to time.
All you out there considering whether or not to catch them this time around- they'd be a perfect lunchtime set to catch. Sit back in the grass with your food and chill with a cigarette to. Not a band you need to be up close and personal with.

I saw that show too, they were great! Then the next year they had the Fleet Foxes open...also great! I was disappointed that the Shins didn't play again this past December, it had become a tradition for my girlfriend and I to make the trip down from Seattle.

Crystal Castles just added!
Anyways, can anyone point me toward a playlist featuring some of the lesser-known artists playing this year? Unlike the past two years I've gone, I'm unfamiliar with the majority of this year's acts.

I wasn't too hyped up on Sunday's line-up(saturday pretty much sold the entire festival for me)...that is until I downloaded the worms vs. birds Sunday playlist. Its awesome. The undercard sounds amazingly awesome. I just hope there aren't a lot of time conflicts, but I know there will be, because I like most of what I heard off that playlist.
I can't wait until Monday's comes out, since I am really not sold on that day in the least except for maybe one or two bands, and i hope the playlist changes my mind.

yeah, or possibly some Yeti/Wookie stage acts being added, so some of those stages will poop an act or two up to main.
