Okkervil River played last year, but I missed them and would LOVE to see them there this year.
Also, Bloc Party is playing two dates in Seattle this spring. Not that there was any speculation regarding them in this thread, but we can probably rule them out as a possibility.

Checking their website I can't access tour dates, but I know they have a new album coming out soon and are planning on doing festivals this year.

Their album came out last fall and is awesome. I missed them last year too because of the sudden, unexpected conflict with the National, so I'd love for them to return as well.

I was reminded this by a friend: Sasquatch isn't just about Seattle. From what he said over half of tickets to Sasquatch sold aren't even in the Seattle area.

Completely ignoring the post above me, I realize that Sub Pop artists aren't usually anything for NW fans to get super worked up about, but what do people think about a few of them being on the bill? A bunch of them have new albums out and many of them are touring this Spring. I haven't looked very deeply into them, but:
Band of Horses Blitzen Trapper - New album and touring this Spring Fleet Foxes - Touring this Spring Helio Sequence - Touring this Spring Iron & Wine - New album Mudhoney - New album and touring this Spring The Shins The Thermals Wolf Parade
I would love to see any of these artists there; better yet, a combination of multiple. Again, I didn't really research any of these as true possibilities or not. All this info was found on Sub Pop's Website.

A couple local bands from Portland that might be able to fill out the Yeti stage:
Dimes, Mimicking Birds, and Horsefeathers. Mimicking Birds are actually opening for Modest Mouse this spring, nice gig.
A couple larger NW bands who could fill late slots on the Wookie, or early slots main stage, I believe each have been mentioned previously.
Dandy Warhols, Blitzen Trapper, Menomena, Helio Sequence, and the Thermals. Are the Thermals too punk for Sasquatch? They have never played. EDIT: Three bands were also mentioned in the post above that wasn't posted before my writing.
Any guesses on the hip hop acts this year? One mention of Murs recently, I agree, especially since his Langerado festival performance is now cancelled.
As for the dance tent, I do not think it will happen. If you want to catch electronic/dance music, you can at most of the other larger festivals. Electronic/Dance music tend to draw a younger, less intelligent crowd, one thing that makes the Coachella board so unbearable.

I think an amazing day would consist of a back to back line up of the Thermals, followed by YYY, then the Strokes, and then The White Stripes. It would be flippin sweet as we say here in Idaho.

Ok, settle down. I was wondering why the Thermals had never played Sasquatch. They are an established NW band who have been around for five years. I can't believe they have yet to play the fest. That was why I asked if they are too punk, followed by a question mark. Had I thought they were too punk to play Sasquatch 09, I would have said, "They are probably too punk to play this festival."

i was at the sub pop 20th anniversary thing last summer, and after seeing the kind of people that were rocking out to mudhoney, i really hope none of those types infest sasquatch.

Couldn't disagree more (except about the Coachella board).
If this was a serious concern, they could always make a 21+ or 18+ dance tent. Seemed to work at Pemberton. People often talk about how they like the diversity of music at Sasquatch (and music festivals in general). I certainly think dance music should at least be considered as an option for night time sets.

the thermals were scheduled for 2007 but cancelled so they could tour in Europe. I've had the pleasure of seeing them 3 times, 1 time at the side stage at Download Festival at the gorge, and they are amazing. I'm counting on them being at sasquatch for sure, along with blitzen trapper.

Do you have any knowledge behind those predictions? Or just hope? Because I would also love to see those two, among others.

Unfortunately, I can't back up those two predictions in any way- as much as I'd like to.
