The Flaming Lips and Weezer did a show together where they both set up their gear on-stage at the same time and took turns playing two or three songs at a time. Rivers got his own space bubble and they closed shit out by collaborating on 'She Don't Use Jelly' and 'Undone (The Sweater Song)'.
It's the same idea as the No Deachunter tour that No Age, Deerhunter and Dan Deacon did about a year and a half a go except less awesome.

Hey, I was at that show.
There were two weird contrasts: One, it was this typical Flaming Lips Embryonic live show (at a slightly larger-than-usual venue) which is, you know, LIGHT AND LOVE AND STARS AND LASER-BOOBS YOU GUYS WOO and every three songs Weezer would come out and play three songs and just stand there. The second is that the crowd reacted way way better to Weezer, because Weezer shirts outnumbered Flaming Lips shirts in the crowd ten to one with the fan ratio probably being similar. There were a fair number of people (myself included) that knew both bands' songs, but generally speaking a disappointing amount of people left to get beer/go to the bathroom once the third or fourth FLAMING FUCKING LIPS set began. To be fair, I wouldn't think the 12-and-40-year-olds set that showed up for Pork and Beans and I Want You To to dig an extended The Observer jam, and I'm pretty sure that several kids saw their first unexposed breast on the F'Lips screen.
So, mixed feelings overall. It was a good show if you like both bands but things like venue size and just the general incongruity of the two bands shows made the whole experience a weird one. Plus there's no way I'm paying $65 for decent seats to a Flaming Lips show. Seats, man.

The Flaming Lips -- the one time I saw them -- sucked major amounts of donkey dick. I probably will not be seeing them again unless it is a free show.
I saw the New Kids on The Block/Backstreet Boys co-headline arena show; it was better than the shitty Flaming Lips.
