Does that get your raver goggles polished a lot?

Just as an aside, I googled 'raver goggles' to see what you were talking about. I got this:

by raver goggles did you mean, " Cyber Cyborg Industrial Goth Rave Steampunk Goggles WOW"? I'd buy it now, $9.99 seems like a steal.

I've been digging a lot of new bands. I've really liked what I've heard from Head like a kite and Smith westerns especially. I've also never taken the time to listen to soft bulletin, but I can see this being a really good set from the Flaming Lips, and the album hasn't even sunk in yet.

I have faith in the organizers that they're going to bring in real talent, after all, it was Sasquatch 2009 that introduced me to one of my now favorites, Japandroids. I was disappointed with the headliners, specifically because I've seen 4/5's of them before. One of the bonuses of Sasquatch for me is that as a Canadian who doesn't live in Vancouver/Toronto/Montreal, I get to see bands that I would normally not get the chance to see (guess how many times the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have come to Edmonton, Alberta). That's not going to be the case this year, but I'll still have a real good time, and I'm also still crossing my fingers that Sasquatch miraculously pulls the Black Keys out of it's bag of tricks, but I guess hope springs eternal.

I meant 4 out of the 5 main headliners. The only ones I haven't seen are the flaming lips.

Having one of my favorite bands (Foo Dr. Garbanzohters) being anounced around the same time as Adam Snacks initial statement of this year being "big!" really shot my expectations through the roof. So, like many others on this board, I was initially disappointed in the lineup this year. This doesn't go without saying that I enjoy all the headliners (3 of 4 I've never seen live) and there are 20 or so undercards I wouldn't mind checking out.

Honestly, if it weren't for a few of the boarders here, I'd be familiar with a lot less artists on this lineup... So, upon making a few discoveries (i.e. Black Mountain, DFA, Decemberists) I can honestly say I feel a little better about the anouncement. The only real disappointment left for me lies within in the day to day schedule. There are too many bands I want to see spread across all four days! This can be tough for someone who was originally planning on a Friday (and maybe Saturday pass).

In other words, you guys are seriously making me consider throwing down $600 on a pair of 4-day passes. I need a deal sealer by monday! ;D

I don't think the Lips are billed as a headliner, but they basically are I suppose. It'll be interesting to see if they have a different slot than other subheads.

That's another thing I was going to mention is that AZ doesn't seem to care about the traditional festival expectations, in the sense that he's started this streak of non-traditional headliners and double-headliners, which is unique for a festival as big as Sasquatch.

My first reaction was literally "I've seen so many of these bands live!" but than I really started looking at the lineup, and came to the realization how amazing it will be to see some of my favorites live with even more people who are favorites. I've never been to a festival before, but when Salt Lake puts on the free shows in the summers even though there are plenty of people who just show up for the show, putting everyone together makes it for such a fun environment.

I started analyzing things further and realized how many bands I hadn't seen live, especially the few bands from overseas I've been wanting to see live for years who never come to salt lake.

Did I get caught up in the hype of the rumored bands to be there this year? Yes, but I don't care now, I'm just stoked beyond belief that even though at the moment I'm not sure if any friends will be joining me this year, that I officially have a ticket for Sasquatch and it's about time because I've been itching to attend since 07.

Well, in that case I've seen all the headliners.

My girlfriend mentioned to me the other day that having the Flaming Lips play The Soft Bulletin "and more" may mean they get an extended set. She also noted that the mainstage is short a band for that day. Is it possible that slot doesn't get filled and the Lips give us a 2 or 2 and a half hour performance?

This would blow my fucking mind.

It's probably going to be The Soft Bulletin ending with Do You Realize? or something.

Since I've been to quite a few festivals I have learned to remember a couple things when the lineup comes out:

1) It is a music festival. It will be so much fun. Way so much more fun than a normal weekend
2) What's special? SOFT BULLETIN (and fucking more!)!
3) If you see at least two bands you love a day, it a fucking great day! Check (omit Friday)
4) Anyone you've always wanted to see? Guided By Voices.
5) Who can I just lose my mind to one night? Bassnectar? Okay! Good bye mind.
6) Is it worth my monies? Where do I pay!
7) Is security trained to poke no further than the first shirt in your bag? Yes. Perfect.

I can't wait, is how I feel now.

When the lineup first dropped I was a little disappointed at the lack of any big surprises, but now that I've had time to digest I'm generally pretty excited about it. Bassnectar was a huge get since Hangout is really close in proximity and I didn't imagine they'd fly him over, so that's pretty rad. Also have never seen Foo's, Death Cab, or Wilco before, but I do like their music, so that should be fun. Don't care for Bright Eyes. Never heard anything by the Flaming Lips (which I should probably amend) but I hear that they're great live. Stoke for Ratatat, Major Lazer, Skrillex, Iron & Wine, Das Racist, Chromeo, and Surfer Blood. I'll See Local Natives again if I get the chance. Also willing to Give Best Coast a chance even though I'm not huge about them. I saw Flogging Molly a couple of years ago at Warped and they were great, excited about them and Against Me! Also excited about DFA1979 and MSTRKRFT.

So yeah, overall I expect to have another great weekend. I'm just hoping the comedy lineup gets bolstered a little. The only name that really caught my eye was Trailer Park Boys. On last.fm, Sasquatch and Coachella were rated the top festivals for me in terms of % compatibility, with Coachella only being ahead by 4% (88 to 84).

Ok since everyone here is in love with the lineup I'll give a dissenting opinion. First off the lineup being lackluster isn't really that big of a deal because it's sasquatch and it'd be fun no matter what. I'm sure I will have a great time and there are plenty of acts I want to see but it's the first year nothing really seems like a must see for me. Mostly I guess this is just from the fact that I've seen so many of the acts on the bill before (and many of them multiple times...). I'm honestly looking at the Saturday lineup and having a hard time justifying a ticket.

I'll end up there regardless but this is the first year I just can't seem to get excited about the lineup.

For one time we agree Cbat, I was underwhelmed with the initial lineup, after a couple of days, i am still underwhelmed. The undercard although has some Really nice names, isn't as strong as previous years. For example, I like flogging Molly, but I 've seem them at smaller venues and it looks like they are playing at the same time LCD Sound system did last year.

It just seems that the lineup lacks any imagination.

So let's call it what it is, It's a chance to make Big money. Raising the ticket Prices for the "extra Day" and really not booking an extra day's worth of acts( I know more are to be added on Friday, but they will be smaller acts that are not going to justify the price increase.).

Sasquatch know they have a festival that is going to sell, so what is going to motivate them to bring in acts like they did in the past?

I Bought tickets a month ago expecting the lineup to be stellar, I am Actually considering skipping it for the first time in 6 years.
