Oh and to get the shit stirring. You're list sucks.
And Tom, I'd say that if you like Ghostland Observatory, it's no surprise that you don't like Fleet Foxes. They could hardly be more different.
What are people's take on Robotique Majestique? (the new Ghostland album). I really can't get into it. I LOVE a lot of the tracks from Papparazzi Lighting (Vibrate, Sad Sad City, Piano Man all kick ass) but to be honest I think the new album is terrible! (For once I actually agree with a Pitchfork review http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/record_review/49081-robotique-majestique)

CCoult, I was dissapointed with Robotique Majestique as well. It seems too 80s or at the very least not enough variation between the songs. I don't know, it just didn't do it for me. Although, there are some tracks towards the end that I like as well if not more than their earlier work. Maybe they should have two years between albums instead of one so that they can get more tracks to choose from.

I totally agree that many of the songs sound similar, at least in terms of their foundation. The first 5 or 6 tracks all have the same tempo and each gradually incorporate layers of electronics and beats as the songs progress. Even the vocals and lyrics don't have the same urgency as previous albums. At times it just sounds like they are trying too hard.
I sure do sound like a downer for someone who is in fact so excited for the fest to begin! I've also been ragging on new albums by the Kooks (Konk), Flight of the Conchords (S/T), the Hives (Black + White Album), and Mars Volta (The Bedlam in Goliath) for all sucking (I could elaborate, but why bother?). These are all bands who I've liked for a long time and was looking forward to seeing. That being said, I will still watch (and hopefully enjoy), all of the afforementioned bands, but some of the excitement has faded.
But the beauty of Sasquatch is that there are a whole whack of other bands (some new, some old) that I am totally stoked to check out, and that actually have awesome new albums out (see R.E.M., Jamie Liddell, Stephen Malkmus, The Morning Benders, Yeasayer.)

Top 5 Built To Spill The Hives Ghostland Breeders The National
Bottom 3 Ozomatli - who blew me away the first time I saw the about 8 years ago but last year bored me greatly Flaming Lips - only because I've seen the UFO show about 6 times now Dhyme Def
Flight of the Conchords (because they almost never play live at festivals, so it will be interesting to see what they do. I agree though, they might suck)
New Pornos/Hives (there must be a lot of Canadians posting here)
Yeasayer is awesome as well, but again too early. I will really try to see them though.
To be totally honest when the lineup first came out I was probably most excited about Flight of the Conchords (Iam quite ashamed to say, because I love Sasquatch #1 for the music). I love the HBO special and thought they would be great to see live. But now listening to the new album I really don't like the polished sound of it and their attempted instrumentation. FOTC is all about the improv, quirkiness, and their hilarious singing style. I hope they bring something unexpected rather than just singing the songs as they are on the album or else it could be very disappointing.
What do the Hives have to do with Canadians? Even New Pornos for that matter...I don't think they are any more popular here than in the States.
See Yeasayer. There will be time to party during Ozomatli!
I get bands confused when I am drunk. Hives probably have nothing to do with Canada. Maybe it is because they start with the letters "Hi" and if I don't hear another repeated chant of "Hip, Hip, Hip," again before I die, I will say it was a pretty cool run.
The saxophone player of Ozomatli whaled on the mini guitar. He was the best part of that show for me. The playing in the crowd was unexpected, and I was right where they stopped in the crowd, so that was fun for me. I dig unique bands, and hip hop mixed with Mexicali is rare. With that said, I don't dig the band enough to defend them any longer. Moving on.
I will see Yeasayer at Lolla. That fest is more about attending music all day. Sasquatch for me is more about how much fun you have at the campground compared to seeing the earlier lesser known bands (I know, saying that on a music blog is like farting in church). I do go early at least half of the time, but there is no party like the Sasquatch campground.

Top 5:
The National Okkervil River - The Stage Names was one of the best albums of 2007, and I have been looking forward to seeing them live for some time. I'm a bit nervous after hearing some underwhelming live performances online (see All Songs Considered), but my hopes are high. Ozomatli - apparently others on this board have seen/listened to Ozomatli much more than I have. I had not seen or heard them before last year's Sasquatch, and I had as much fun during their set as any other (the Arcade Fire might have topped them). Maybe it was just exceeded expectations. I checked out their albums afterwards and was fairly unimpressed, but I am very excited to see them live again. R.E.M. - I have wanted to see them for as long as I can remember...very much hoping that I didn't wait too long. Flaming Lips - I came unprepared for the hail storm in 2006 and ended up spending that portion of the evening soaked with a waking hangover freezing in my car. I will not make the same mistake this year.
Bottom 3:
DCFC: I have seen them four times. Their shows weren't bad, but I feel like their music is generally too slow and too somber to make them a must see live. The Cure: I will go see them, but for the life of me I can't get excited about it. The New Pornographers: Another band I have seen a million times. If Neko Case isn't there, I just don't think this show is worth it. I love the New P's, but Carl Newman's voice doesn't do terribly well on stage inside, I can't imagine how it will sound with in a huge outdoor venue.

Why would everyone hate on Franti? maybe last year was bad and Beastie was playing but thats no reason to skip it this year. I also saw Him at Vancouver Folk Fest which was amazing.
Top 5. Franti (give it a try) Flaming Lips (sorry Ghostland you were my second favorite) M.I.A. (I don't understand people who put this on their hate list) Blue Scholars ( They are incredible, I have seen them 5 times and each show is different and equally good. I strongly encourage people to go!) The Hives (I have wanted to see them forever)
Worst 3. The Cure (Go home, this is the wrong place for you) Death Cab (I planned to be depressed when the festival ends not during it) The comedy stage (nobody good there, Flight of the Concords should be there)
The Cure Flaming Lips Rodrigo y Gabriela Mars Volta 65daysofstatic
Bottom 3 MIA MIA MIA Death cab for cutie too. I guess Flight of the Concords as well.
I was so wrong about TMV.... the Lips passed up one of my favorite bands ever for the top place... I want to father gabriela's children... Crudo kicked ass! (patton+the automator+buttercup=ftw)...
Top 5 1. Flaming Lips 2. The National 3. Okkervil River (surprised no one has mentioned them yet!) 4. Flight of the Conchords 5. Yeasayer (recently fell in love w/ them)
Honourable mention: Beirut, The Kooks (although very disappointed in their new album), REM, Built to Spill, The Cure
Terrible Trio 1. OZOMATLI (will be 7 people watching that set) 2. Newton Faulkner (supposedly like Jack Johnson with dreads?!?) 3. Dyme Def (let's be honest here...)
Top 5 performances: 1. Flaming Lips!!!: I have never been so happy in my entire life
2. The National: It took us forever to get in on Saturday so I was extremely disappointed that I thought I had missed 1/2 of their set. Then to my surprise Fleet Foxes are on stage. Later that night the Yeti stage was packed. After a hilarious intro from Dwight the National were everything I had hoped for and much more. I've never seen an encore on the Yeti stage before it was incredible!
3. The Kooks: The most fun set of the weekend. We danced and sang from start to end. Wish they hadn't started so late though.
4. Jamie Lidell: Also so much fun. Only caught the first few songs becasue we wanted to head down for TMV, but I'm really glad I saw what I did.
5. Rodrigo Y Gabriela: The biggest surprise of the weekend for myself (and i'm sure a lot of other people). So amazingly talented.
Honourable Mentions: Mates of State, The Blakes, The Hives
Well I obviously didn't see any of my bottom 3. I was a little dissappointed in R.E.M. but my expectations were high. We decided to leave after about 10 songs because we were wet and exhaused and almost every song thus far had been from Accellerate. The Cure were good but I wish they had played Friday I'm In Love, Lovecats, and Close To Me. We thought for sure by the 3rd encore we hear one of those songs. I was also a little dissappointed with Built to Spill (they are great musicians but definitely didn't win any fans with their showmanship). I kind of felt the same way about New Pornos, but it was good so see them all together.
